Lack of pre season games

Recommended Posts

For the first team we've only announced Alfreton and Harrogate, should we be worried about the lack of games announced, surely the schedule should be there or there abouts in being finished.

We'll probably have 2 games out in Portugal, a midweek game when they return and then another game on 23rd. Probably won't have a home game this time though unless it's the midweek after Portugal. 23rd is same weekend as tramlines.

I know pre season is mainly about Getting fitness

But for once I like us to face a team that will challenge us

Make us learn something about the players before the season starts

Weaknesses ect

Under 23s are having a friendly vs Stocksbridge in July.

Yep on the 26th, a Tuesday night.  SPS have it listed but there's no mention on our OS ... yet

However, there are details of a whole bunch of U18 pre-season games,  although the dates suggest some might well

be 'academy' fixtures like the upcoming game at Wakefield

Strange shortage of senior games though, we'd normally expect around 5 or 6 with crowds in attendance

People need to remember we start the season much earlier this year due to the winter world cup, means players should have retained more of their fitness. Not worried at all.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, can ever be learnt about the upcoming season from results in pre season.

All about fitness and I'm sure the behind closed door matches will be more than suitable.

Harder to schedule given the shorter pre season.

Less chance of key players getting injured unnecessarily.

Be reyt.
