It’s time to sign someone now…

This is the best part of the season

All the suspense of being linked with everyone

Waiting for the kit release and dreaming of a proper Wednesday shirt with stripes front and back, and even on the sleeves

And to double the excitement, we are free of transfer embargoes, so we can dream about spending money that we haven't got

Then we wait until the last week of the pre season to sign all our players, what a climax, it's brilliant, almost sexual

The excitement goes through the roof

We start dreaming of HMS Pisstheleague

Then the season starts and brings everyone crashing back down to earth (the round not flat one)

This is as good as it gets

Then it's 9 months of broken dreams and failed promises

It's the Wednesday way

Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.

I’m quite looking forward to next weeks Star features that include

•catching up with Steve Adam’s and his mission to crochet the entire House of Lords.

•Wade Smalls Guinness world record attempt at number of dogs walked in a day.

•exactly what washing detergent the SWFC kit-men use to get rid of those stubborn grass stains.

No, no, no!

Leave well alone.

I've got some cracking threads lined up for next week:

'If Wednesday Players Grew Vegetables'

'Lost Wednesday Chants Of The Pre-War Era'

'Is Wednesday The Best Day?'

Today we’re asking ‘what’s the best Wednesday - Sheffield, Ash or Addams?’

I'll take the week of work in anticipation then.

Yes, I'm naturally frustrated, as a football fan with nothing to do .....but the transfer window only officially opened on Friday and player contracts run to the end of June.

I think we may get a couple of announcements next week. But suspect the deadline (if we have one) worked towards will be getting players in for the Portugal trip.

'Tracey from Dronfield has been in touch to say she can no longer enjoy any Wednesday, as this was the day her recently-deceased husband Kenneth used to expect her to perform her weekly conjugal duties. Thanks for sharing that, Tracey, and I hope it's not too long until you find someone to fill the hole Kenneth left.'

Sounds like a dangerous job what with there already being one fatality
