He's actually previously made the Championship team of the year, something that neither Fletch or Hooper managed whilst with us. I rate them both more than Gregory, but it shows he's been decent at that level

Gregory scores goals for fun in the division we're currently in, makes sense to keep him even if we offer him another year if needed. Gregory is the sort of player that is perfect for us at the moment in the short term to get us out of this division, 17 goals and missed some of the season. We need to get him a proper strike partner in the building. If we go up he'd be a handy option off the bench, hardly a horrific situation. And let's be honest, that's a big if too. I'm not too concerned with his age either, bit of a red herring as he's in excellent shape and relies primarily and his strength and movements in the box - it's not like we're going to miss pace that he never had. And to be pedantic, when the 2023/24 season kicks off he'll still be 34. Also, no player in our squad has been 'easily replaced' in the entire Chansiri reign - especially strikers who have the knack for being in the right place at the right time and who know how to find the net. We'd probably try and get Nuhiu back. It’s not needed though is it? We have him for this season, if we still want him at the end of the season we can offer him another contract then. He’s unlikely to get a better offer than us. Nobody in The Champiinship will be rushing in for him and if we are still in League One we are more attractive than all the rest.

He’s scored 39 goals in 183 Championship matches, 1 goal every 4.69 matches. He’s scored 51 goals in 114 League One matches, 1 goal every 2.24 matches. Championship clubs won’t be rushing in at the end of his contract when he’s 35. Just like they weren’t at the end of his Stoke City contract when he was 33. Like I said, he’s a good League One striker.

Mr. Chow
hes a legend, becoming a fans favourite very quickly. Probably the only blade I dont mind. Wouldnt mind offering maybe another year on top of his current contact. If we go up his experience would be nice in the higher league, be a good edition to bring off the bench too.
twolaptops
Good enough to keep short term at present.....but there will be a time when he has served his time and he will know when and we will see when......keep him for the next season
Jeffjohnsonmyhero
We have to be bringing our younger players in to the first team pool .Forget sending on loan ,Its Lg 1 if they can not do it in this Division they would fail in the Championship . I always have been patient ,Stop bringing loan players in unless we have an option to buy .Gregory would be a Good mentor to some of our younger players ,A good coach here in the future local lad as he is .
darra
It would be nice to think that in the days of mercenary players that players like Gregory, NML would be grateful to teams like us for giving them another chance and stick around

TheEnchanter
A way for Derby or Wigan to tempt him would be to wave a 2 year contract at him.

No Championship club in 12 months time will be rushing to get a 35 year old striker that’s scored a goal nearly every 5 matches in his near 200 Championship matches. If promoted he would still be useful as a striker when we need to mix it up a bit and his experience might be useful if we have young strikers coming through. 0114
Wouldn’t be rushing to offer someone who turns 34 this year a deal any longer than the one he’s on. He’s been excellent but Wednesday certainly hold the cards with this one.
Freshfish
...we need experienced heads if we are bringing through inexperienced strikers. It's not rocket science.

It's even better when you consider his all-round contribution to the team - a Rhodes-style goal-poacher, Gregory is not. With his assists added in, he averaged a direct goal contribution every 125 minutes last season, which is really pretty decent. 1
