He’s a good League One striker that’s not quite cut it in The Championship.

Lets not overplay it in our typical fashion.

He has a year left on his contract and he’s 34 at the start of this season. No need to offer him a longer contract.

The harsh reality is that at the start of the season after he’ll be 35. If he decides to leave he’d be very easily replaced regardless of our division.

He really doesn't need a longer deal.

Hes got one season left, and that should be the season he gets us promoted.

Would you then want to be tied in to a season in the championship with a 35 year old Gregory? More short-sightedness again.

I’ve heard there’s interest from Argentina...so we best offer him a juicy new deal...that’s how it works innit..

Turns 34 in august  . Does seem one of those who keeps himself in good shape and looks after himself . Only need to look at the other half of the city to see billy sharp at 36 still knocking the goals  .

gregory one of those I could see finishing his career here . Hopefully takes us up next year then give him a year in the champ .

Nobody is saying he's up for the Ballon d'Or chief.

Gregory scores goals for fun in the division we're currently in, makes sense to keep him even if we offer him another year if needed. Gregory is the sort of player that is perfect for us at the moment in the short term to get us out of this division, 17 goals and missed some of the season. We need to get him a proper strike partner in the building.

If we go up he'd be a handy option off the bench, hardly a horrific situation. And let's be honest, that's a big if too.

I'm not too concerned with his age either, bit of a red herring as he's in excellent shape and relies primarily and his strength and movements in the box - it's not like we're going to miss pace that he never had. And to be pedantic, when the 2023/24 season kicks off he'll still be 34.

Also, no player in our squad has been 'easily replaced' in the entire Chansiri reign - especially strikers who have the knack for being in the right place at the right time and who know how to find the net. We'd probably try and get Nuhiu back.

Not short sightedness at all. All about hedging your bets. If we win promotion I doubt people at the club will be distraught having a player who knows where the net is on the bench for the year.

The short sightedness is just assuming we're going to get promoted.

How about starting the 23/24 season having failed to win promotion again - and now having to try and replace a 15-20 goal a season striker. Or having a striker in his final year at SWFC talking to clubs through the year as he's unsure of his future, rather than concentrating on firing us to promotion.

He has played most of his league career in the championship, he has done okay in that league.
