I don't see how the officials can decide intent or not in that situation. If a defender is going in for a challenge then he's intending to win the ball, regardless of where it deflects to.

Agreed. Before kick off everyone was speaking as if Liverpool would walk through Madrid.

 

Are people forgetting that they’re playing Real Madrid?! Spanish champions who knocked out PSG, Chelsea and City.

Always hate the narrative of "they've got the keeper to thank for being in this", as if the keeper is a bystander and the team's lucky he's there.

 

Thats why they're paying the bloke millions a year, to keep the ball out the net.
