Ideas to improve football

Stop parachute payments

Simply put into players contracts that if their club is relegated they receive a smaller wage inline with whatever that lower leagues spending limit is

An instant level playing field for every club

yeah you're right on that one - it all seemed to happen at once

I have a dim memory of reading that this was done as to not undermine the ref with respect to timekeeping. Not sure if that’s actually the reason though.

Goal kicks to be taken from the side of the goal tat the ball goes out of play. If ever a rule was changed to encourage time wasting.

Good point Lightning
Also give a spray marker to the assistant referees to mark where the ball goes out of play for a throw in and to mark the point a free kick is taken for offsides/fouls in the defensive half so that no advantage in gaining ground can be made (usually by the keeper)

Have an official clock in the stadium so everyone can see that the ref has ‘stopped the clock’ for time wasting.

Also, to include time punishments by incident as they happen e.g. x amount of seconds added at the point of a goalkeeper time wasting, or outfield player taking ages to take a throw. A cheer would go up every time seconds we’re added and it would reduce time wasting, particularly players feigning injury.

I always wondered why at throw ins and goal kicks a countdown on the screens can't immediately begin from 7 seconds - if they take longer then they lose the throw and get booked and if its a GK it becomes a corner and get booked.

What a simple gorgeous idea.  No brainer.   And an immediate red card for anyone having a drink

With tv cameras everywhere why are free kicks and throw ins never get taken from the correct spot, some players get 10 yards down the wing before they even throw the ball in.

i would love to see retrospective bans for simulation and cheating on the pitch. Diving is a blight of football and should be removed.

If two sides are drawn in the FA Cup from the same division then an option for the game to be decided on the day without a replay, both clubs would have to agree, a bit like what they do with the FA Trophy. I like replays in general but just feel like one like ours down at Plymouth this season are a needless game.

Clock stops when the ball goes out of play, would stop time wasting.

Remove Under 23 sides from EFL Trophy. It's not doing them any good being in there in my opinion.

Gambling adverts and club partnerships stopped and shirt sponsorships ended.

Get rid of parachute payments.

Oh sh1 te forgot  we are in this pointless EFL trophy again next season

Choose one TV channel for all football so you don’t have to subscribe to gazillions of channels.

6 second rule for keepers is actually 6 seconds.

5 minute sin bin for professional fouls

3 subs max. Can select a keeper or risk it.

scrap VAR

Limit on squad sizes (can get loans any time due to injury)

Scrap transfer windoW but don’t allow transfers in last 10 games of season.

Public flogging for fans entering the field of play

Allow home fans to leave via leppings lane

smoke bombs should be placed up the derrière of the person that lit them

safe standing

  1. Have more than 1 referee.
  2. Give referees microphones.
  3. Make VAR either mandatory at all matches, or get rid.
  4. 20 second rule for throw ins, once ball goes out, the player has 20 seconds to complete a throw in once the ball is available.

20 seconds is an absolute age "once the ball is available". 10 would be too much.

Count it out, imagining someone stood with the ball over their head.

One... two... three... four... I'm already bored.

That's all being brought in next season

It'll make the divide even bigger as players would rather sit on the bench of a top half club than play for a club that has a chance of relegation.

Just guarantee salaries of player's contracts over 12 months for relegated clubs.

Players will still sign for lower clubs and the clubs can't spend the money on new players or pocket it.

Any player sent off should be regarded as playing the opposition onside for the rest of the game (!) Bring back multiple replays. Make teams in Europe enter the League Cup from the 2nd round like they used to do. Nobody used to mind when teams like Oxford and Luton (and us as a 2nd-tier team) won it. Nobody pretended that those teams were the best in the country. Same with the FA Cup. Nobody minded Wimbledon and Coventry winning it, and if the big teams didn't make as much effort as in the league, so what. In connection with this, the rule that teams should play their 'full available strength' in cup matches should either be properly imposed or revised to require teams to play at least 8 of the team who featured in their previous league game. Teams should be allowed 3 subs max. And, while it was amusing to see the pigs go out on penalties the other day, it seems every other final goes to spot kicks these days. I'd love to see an alternative, or at least some way to reduce the number of shoot-outs. If we can't have endless replays, maybe have penalties before extra time, or even during half-time in regular time (then there wouldn't need to be extra time).

TIME.

Just watched the City game. 4 mins added time goes up. During that added time, two City players went down getting treatment. It took 1m 50sec. Ref blows the whistle at 94m.28s.

That's 1m 22s not played.

The players and coaches know the refs don't add all the time on, that's why they do it. It's cheating and it needs sorting as it ruins football.
