Pitch Invasions

Our ' Fans ' .invaded the pitch when we scored at Crewe .

Dont think our players were too happy about being mobbed by a load of numpties .

Dont understand though , why players who score always run to a corner flag be it at a home end or the away end where they get pelted by bottles and rubbish and coins ,not to mention abuse .

Celebrate in the middle of the pitch and dont encourage the idiots who , like last night , may have less than innocent intent .

Strongly disagree with this

Players should be able to celebrate how they want
And fans should simply behave themselves

Nobody should ever make changes to accomodate people who can't control themselves - that's how they win and you end up with the world having to make changes to make the world less emotional, passionate, interesting etc just because Barry off High Green can't handle coke and beer

Difficult one this

Our pitch invasion v Wycombe is fondly remembered, it was televised and the club have sold photos displaying it. A lot of other clubs have similar occasions. I've got the Pete McKee Llera photo in my office for example.

There's an unwritten rule that it's tolerated for promotion and huge one off events, but not for lesser events and certainly not during play or for goals.

Problem is, a large minority of football fans are idiots, who don't have the emotional intelligence to determine when it is or isn't appropriate.

Unfortunately to actually stop it at unneccessary times, you have to ban it full stop, which would involve not allowing clubs or media to romanticise them in any way, any grey area means things like last night will always happen every now and again.

On the pitch, off the pitch, morons are always going to be morons. Even in our last game when one of the Sunderland players had a corner (the cynic in me thinks it was initially a ploy to incite and cause more disruption, either way some of our numpties duly obliged by emptying their pockets) we had fans potentially causing harm.

I’ve said many times that I just don’t understand why you’d want to do it. You run on , players run off, then your stood Around awkwardly trying to start a chant or look like your doing something, so you just end up taking a selfie or something.

would it not make sense to stay in the stand and let the players come round and enjoy it with the fans as 1.??

it’s gunna take an official or a player to get stabbed one game for everyone to take note, but it will be too late then.

Just stay off the pitch like the rules state. It’s very simple.

im all in favour of deducting points or cut allocation if a team does this. It will eventually stop people

Nottingham Forest should be banned from taking part in the play off final, cos of what that moron did, it's the only way to put a stop to these moronic actions,

So why punish the players and genuine fans ?

He's not going to be there anyway.

Why should the entire club and their fanbase suffer because of the actions of one idiot?

The laws exist to charge him and punish him as an individual rather than making tens of thousands of innocent people suffer because of his actions.

If losing his liberty, and potentially his livelihood,  isn't enough to prevent him head-butting a player, then what makes you think his football club being punished would stop him?

It sure is… luckily the Wycombe players ran off at the final whistle IIRC and the Wednesday fans behaved themselves.

On the flip side, Palace relegated us at Hillsborough, their fans ran on the pitch, so ours did and it didn’t go too well at all.

The crazy thing is that losing his liberty and livelihood clearly didn't stop him. If he knew doing what he did would mean Forest aren't then allowed to play in the play off final the daft thing is that might have stopped him, just like the thought that all his Forest mates will blame him forever. I'm not advocating that punishment though, you'd get fans impersonating opposition fans etc if a fan knew his action could affect the outcome of such big sporting events.

Should the EFL instruct all clubs to impose automatic life bans on anyone who chooses to invade the pitch at any of their grounds?

A lifetime ban seems a bit harsh, especially as someone might do this when they're young. Instead I'd just chop their legs off.
