owls in the park cancelled

Recommended Posts

Disappointed but understandable !!

Hopefully when it does return Wednesday keep the VIP breakfast event, it’s a fantastic way to meet and chat to the players. #uto

It's enough watching our players get injured on that pitch on a matchday, nevermind an event to watch them train and do the same

Yeah I’m not that bothered about watching my team train. I’d rather watch them win a playoff final. I’m funny like that.

will this event ever take place again? incredibly the excuse given is the pandemic . yet we pilled in to hillsborough for last 2 games of the season  many have had photos with the players etc but excuse is supporters getting too close to the players at owls in the park will result in an outbreak at the club.  you just cant make it up.

Presumably when no owls shirts are bought because of the issue of getting too close to the sales assistant the club might change their mind.

what a complete and utter farce. Hold it 4 or 5 week before the season starts problem sorted.

It will be back on if it hits DC in his pocket I bet.

I was hoping to take my lad for his first experience of all things Wednesday.

Whilst im not going to judge their decision, Glastonbury is going ahead and we've just had the attendance of over 65,000 in our last 2 home games.  All a bit strange.

Same for me. Want to take my son for the first time next season and get him kitted out in the new strip. Owls in the park would've been the perfect opportunity to get him into it.

Wonder if the players have had to cancel their summer holidays? Must have, with all that close contact on the plane, foam parties, pool parties and socialising….

Maybe covid isn’t in Dubai or La manga??

I wonder if Tramlines has been cancelled surely people dancing with each other will be more at risk and its at the same venue as party in park.

i suspect Sheffield Council will not be allow any cancellation to this event.

i just think this is a massive own goal by the club, the chairman and the players. A chance to build bridges and get new young fans interest in the club.

Owls in the park is in July? Kit release is in January so won’t make any difference financially.

owls in the park is a wonderful event for young and old during the day usually a shirt is launched selling thousands that day as well as other merch ,prob also gets a few extra to buy either a season ticket or attend the 1st game ,the club must make huge sums that day , but i reckon it also costs a few bob to put on and all costs are going up thats why its been cancelled but the reason the club for last few years is run worse than a corner shop its the owner who still aint got a clue . what year is it going to be when the club shop stocks a proper amount of gear? its got to be a six figure possibly 7 figure sum they are losing every year due to the shambles . my kids are disappointed its not going ahead i think ive accepted that this event is now a thing of the past ..

maybe its just purely chansiri what cancelled it , maybe its a culture thing as we know people in the far east are doing extremely bizarre things at the min resulting in cities of 25-30 million been held prisoners in there own homes etc .

ive been to other clubs this season what have fan zones the 1 at ipswich i was impressed with and i thought why cant we do this maybe in hillsborough park just accross from the bridge .

The end of season club sponsors event was cancelled at the last minute after the Sunderland game, with Darren Moore recording a video saying they would reschedule and include in the revised event for all the sponsors to be taken to see the the players train.
The cancellation of Owls in the Park doesn’t seem consistent with that, albeit a much bigger event.

If they are that bothered about Covid, why offer to take the sponsors to the training ground - it wasn’t something being demanded?

I’ve no gripe with them cancelling the event if there was genuine concerns (I’ve lost a close friend due to Covid) but to me it seems disingenuous to cancel it for Covid when I suspect most players will have been vaccinated, or have gained some resilience through catching it, like many of us have.

To me it seems as though the event is seen internally as a bit of an inconvenience. They know supporters will still buy the shirts, OiTP event or not, and the club doesn’t really ‘get it’ when it comes to engaging with supporters of the future.

Their cases hit a record high. What did you expect them to do?

I'm all for being sensible but we've just had 66k across the last 2 home games in a relatively confined area with no mention of H+S or any adverse consequences.

In this context this cancellation is illogical and appears not to be for the reasons stated.

Despite best intentions life comes with all manner of risk ( not just covid ) and there must come a time when living life takes precedence over merely existing.
