Pyro, flares and smoke bombs at SWFC

Gotta say we are seeing this more and more in football now and it always looks fantastic when done properly

Obviously not when a lone lad just chucks a smoke bomb onto the side of the pitch, but when it’s done big time and they light up the stands and the (blue obvs) smoke is bellowing then it’s genuinely fantastic to see

Football isn’t going to get rid of it either

Im not condoning or promoting this or suggesting anyone does it - it’s against the stadium rules and probably the law too

BUT

So why don’t SWFC monetise it and start selling them in the megastore?

Lol wot

I went to a match in Groningen in 2004 and just before kick off a young girl was led out crying her eyes out because she was nearly hit by a banger.

The young Wednesday fan hit in the face by a Flare from the Blunts, at that family club.

Ban em.

There were a number of flares at The Reytons gig other night at Magna.

Looked great.

They do

Just need to find a way to make em safe

Maybe at Wednesday we could give them to the band and Tango who are two well established SWFC entities and they can let them off when the goal music plays?

No its not.   Terrorists plan their attacks they don't just rock hoping to get their gear into their target.

That's not an argument obviously, because they might just be sat there watching 90,000 fans on television at Wembley thinking you know what, they got that lot in so they're obviously not doing checks.

They tried it in Paris. It was only one observant security guard away from disaster.

It only takes something small to start a panic or evacuation, then they hit them as they leave with something bigger.

A sensible terrorist (if you can have such a thing) would think but how many were found outside the ground at the check points.

Flares should not be in the possession of fans full stop.

If it adds to the atmosphere though, why not have club employees dotted around setting them off in a safe and controlled manner at strategic locations around the ground.

Just take the idiots out of the equation, you'll still have the atmosphere.

Obviously no good travelling away, but better than nowt at home.

I like to see them. They definitely add to the atmosphere of the big games but when it’s some idiot chucking them about it’s dangerous.

I watched the display that the Frankfurt fans put on before the second leg against West Ham, and it was brilliant, but at the same time was obviously done properly with co-operation from the club.

Lobbing them on the pitch - NO

Properly organised display - YES

The first sensible answer!

These marine flares burn can burn at something like 1,600 degrees C. By comparison, your medium/well done steak cooks in four or five minutes per side at around 240C.

Not sure about smoke bombs although inhaling the smoke can cause injury.

Having said that, if there is room and properly supervised area, go ahead.

So instead of just letting them off our fans should help each other out and warm each other’s pies up with them?

The pies at Hillsborough are already hotter than the sun.

They are in need of flavour, content and texture rather than more outright heat.

Another vote for this post.

Simple Common Sense.

Finally an idea I can get on board with, take the instruments out of their hands and let them hold burning flames lol
