OwlerIT2
And, whilst Joao has performed well, it has been claimed that the financial situation at Reading means they are likely to cash in on the Portuguese attacker, who is one of few in the squad that can command a big fee. Let’s hope PSG come in with a £1000000000000000 bid then to bring on spendagedan this summer. Edited May 14, 2022 by OwlerIT2
fpowl
How longs left on his contract probably just entering his last year now so is he doubtful if they get more than 5/6 million I just don’t see many teams outside the premiership paying fees anymore in today’s climate either way 20% of 5 mil will cover 2 weeks of losses from the covid season

alanharper
Wish they'd sold him for 8 figures when he was on fire before his bad injury, will be a fraction of that now especially if they're desperate for cash. We had a sell on for Chris Brunt as well. He ended up staying at WBA for years and then retiring. Edited May 14, 2022 by alanharper

IanSWFC1867
It’s 20% on any profit of what Reading make and as he’s out of contract so how does that work?
nethertonowl
Reading FC will miss out on a chunk of money from the possible sale of Lucas Joao due to a transfer agreement made with the striker’s former club Sheffield Wednesday. The Royals are understood to be willing to listen to offers this summer for the 28-year-old they signed from the Owls in 2019. Due to the club’s precarious financial situation, selling one of their highest earners in Joao would be seen as an ideal solution. Reading must cut down their wage bill by £5million – from £21million to £16million – in order to meet the criteria set out in a business plan imposed by the EFL for breaching Profitability and Sustainability regulations, which must be adhered to by the end of June. Although selling Joao would help towards that, Reading will not be able to pocket all of the transfer fee. According to Yorkshire Live, when Reading signed Joao from the Owls the League One side inserted a 20 per cent sell-on clause as part of the deal. Therefore, Royals will have to hand over 20 per cent of the transfer money received from selling the Angolan to his former club.

That is one quintillion quid in case anyone is wondering. That would mean that the fee Wednesday would receive would be about double the GDP of the entire world. He has had a good season to be fair. 1

Im in Exactly, we could buy every club on earth several times over and win be Champions league runners up to Reading, who could then easily buy us.

catdog1121
Knowing our luck they would sell him and not pass on the 20% and then declare bankruptcy..
bobness
If we buy him for £10M and pay it off over 6 seasons, but record the 20% fee as income for the current season, will it help us next year with FFP? The asking price without the sell on % was more than what they paid.
