Prince
Absolute colossus of a captain for us. Terrible illness dementia, I know from first hand watching a very close family member suffer for a few years now. Best wishes to Mick and his family
DJMortimer
What a leader of men he was, and by all accounts a genuinely nice person too. Nothing I can say will make any difference to the desperate sadness of this affliction, but I'll express my best wishes to him regardless. Mick will always be held dear by those in the Wednesday family.
upperwinngardensowl
A truly great CB and leader. I will never forget in the warmup away at Charlton where they were giving him some headers around the 6 yard box and he was heading them to the halfway line. He was doing it over and over again before the match even started. They weren’t the beach balls they have today either.

Steelman
That’s really sad news. He was a real leader of men and a Wednesday legend. My dad loved him, used to call him a “Tower of Strength”. Love to him and his family.
parkfieldowl14
Absolutely heartbroken to hear of this news. Mick Lyons in my view was absolute beast of a Centre Half and one of our greatest ever captains.

Since 1971
So desperately sad. A hero to me and best Wednesday captain I've seen in over 50 years of watching them. I remember his warm ups on the pitch. I've been dreading hearing this news ever since I read that he used to head the changing room ceiling before a match.
