Sunderland - worst possible tie

Recommended Posts

I think these were the worst team we could have faced to be honest.

They are a good side and I back them to go on and win it. The atmosphere in the first leg scared the poo out of our players and going 1-0 down into the second we carried that nervous energy into it.

Hopefully next season we can find a couple of loan players like Roberts and Clarke. Two young wingers who tore us apart over both legs.

Fair play to Sunderland and Alex Neil. Better team and manager over both legs.

Based on these two games, I’ve seen nothing to suggest we would have beaten them at Wembley anyway.

Pretty sure we would have faired similarly to MK Dons did against Wycombe too, there strengths are our weaknesses.

There’s no easy games in the playoffs, you just have to be good enough. And in 180 minutes we weren’t even close.

Probably the best team we could face at this stage unless we wanted another Hull final replay repeat, not good enough this season, Moore has proved to be tactically naive over the two legs and for those in denial how many points have we thrown away late in a game all season and let’s not forget that Morecambe loss!

Players lost all discipline and shape at 1-0 up. Was comical. Got completely carried away with the crowd. Needed calm heads to keep it tight at the back but also just play our natural game going forward.

Huge inexperience on show tonight from a fairly experienced squad. I think that is the manager.

Yep. Why can't we get good, young attacking loan players like Clarke? Having said that, he signed for them the day after we signed Tyreece John-Jules. Just our luck that the one who gets injured almost immediately is the one we sign, and the one who plays a key role in the play-offs goes to them.

Worst possible showing more like. Don’t remember a passage of play more than 30 seconds long. Ten minutes stoppage time! Absolutely cringe, was all up for the winner tonight winning at Wembley but absolutely f*ck ‘em on that showing, a proper embarrassment. The dives, my god. The faking. The zero football.

And the pure sh*te they’ve talked about Wycombe being rancid. Hypocrites.

So disappointed it was such an awful game. And not ‘cos of us.

Haway then. I know they’re desperate after all these years but what price promotion? Alex Neil is about as Sunderland as Guardiola is Wycombe.

Good luck to em, enjoy anti-football.

Two tight games, don’t think they were that much better than us tbh. Without the Hutchinson mistake it would be 1-1 and who knows what would have happened.

Moore gets a lot of credit from me after this season. Compared to where we were this time last season, we now have so much more to build on.

Dust ourselves off after the heart break tonight and let’s go again in August. Looking forward to seeing what happens with the squad this summer.

Sunderland was always the worst possible tie

It was obvious.

The are in great form, have dangerous players and a crowd that means a near certain defeat in one of the legs

Hopefully they go up, I don’t want to face them next season

however, I’m not convinced they will beat Wycombe

It just saved us being eliminated by Wycombe or MK Dons instead. 😂
