So..what do we need for next season

Recommended Posts

It's been said before, but we need to find a way to overcome the more physical sides. Three times recently (v Sunderland twice and Wycombe), we've played teams who haven't allowed us to play as we wanted, and we haven't had an answer. We got sucked into their game plan (aimless headers being a major part of that). OK, those two are probably the best in the division for that kind of thing, and we didn't get the run of the ball in any of those games. But you make your own luck, as they say, and  it happened elsewhere as well. And yes, we could really do with having some fitter (and probably younger) players.

I fear we will be cutting our wage bill next season now that Chansiri’s latest gamble has failed .

Why is that a fear

Surely that's good for the club

You don't need to be spending 10 million a year in Wages to get promoted out of this league like Wigan and Rotherham have shown

It takes smart business and not signing 'names' and throwing 10k a week at them

It all goes back to the way the club is run and its structure. It needs a overhaul. DC at the top making the recruitment decisions backed up by who? In the relegation season the top man the buck seemed to mostly stop at. Since is distancing everything else is to blame. Just follow the paper trail back. All it needs is one or two good structural decisions from the top down. Can it be so difficult?

Gregory has had a brilliant season, especially 2nd half. He needs some legs alongside him now. Neither Berahino, Kambeiri or Windass have given him sufficient support.

Id like to see how many points we won in the games Gregory was injured. That, and Windass missing most of the season are the main reasons we didn’t go up automatic.

How about a crafty stab at getting Rhodes back on loan from Huddersfield? He's clearly not a consistent Championship player any more and if Udders did get promoted, he'd be even further out of his depth and unlikely to play. He might well still have it him in at lower league level and it would certainly be interesting to give him a go alongside Gregory.

Let me think about that one.
