Difficult Task

Recommended Posts

We've been great at home this season, but winning by 2 goals will be difficult. There is a big disparity between the top half of the table and the bottom half - so while we've crushed a lot of the bottom half, our home record against the better teams with 70 pts or more is a bit more even:

Wigan - 1-0 win

Rotherham - 0-2 loss

MK Dons - 2-1 win

Sunderland - 3-0 win

Wycombe - 2-2 draw

Plymouth - 4-2 win & 0-0 draw

Oxford - 1-2 loss

Bolton - 1-0 win

Portsmouth - 4-1 win

Ipswich - 1-0 win

So out of those 11 games, 4 of those results would see us eliminated, 4 go into extra time, and only 3 be enough to win the tie outright.

It will be a very different Sunderland team to the Lee Johnson team that came for an open game in October. Expect they will play more like the Rotherham team, sit deep and look to frustrate us.

Going to be all about making a few chances count rather than having 20+ shots at goal like against the likes of Charlton, Cambridge, Burton, etc.

Oh stop with the negativity. Make a thread why we can beat them at home as we did a few months ago.

Put Pato at RWB, Kamberi up front and bring back Theo?

Unfortunately, not happening my friend.

Whilst I agree, the circumstances are very different tomorrow. Should we be winning a league game by 1 goal you have no need to push on for another, tomorrow we have that need thus changes the dynamics.

I absolutely can’t wait for tomorrow! Must win games are much more our thing than mustn’t lose. I have no reason to believe tomorrow will be anything other than a Wednesday win over 90 mins. If we are lucky enough we might even get to enjoy some extra time and penalties! The atmosphere is going to be mental!

Pato has never been the difference

That game was the best wingback performance we've had this season bar none.

He had their LB and LM in tatters all game and was involved in all three goals.
