Yeah..maybe the wrong thread title lol

'There are an infinite number of possible better results, but given the circumstances a 1-0 loss isn't the end of the world' isn't very catchy though.

That game could have seen us done and dusted before the return leg so 1-0 is pretty good!!

we are still in this tie…keep the faith

exactly, how often on here this season has there been a meltdown over our flaky defending, and yet still loads of comments on playing Palmer over Hunt. We had a game plan,  apart from one error we executed it. Yes we would have liked more control in midfield, but Baz will have 2 more days to get fit, fresh legs to come in and home advantage. Neil will shuffle their pack too,  Its the play offs expect another tight game but more goals. Suspect they burnt more petrol then we did last night. Composure needed Monday , 32,000 Wednesday fans have a part to play too !

Sorry but being behind in the play offs is never a good thing.

People seem to think we’ll just turn up on Monday and win because of home advantage. Alex Neil is a manager who has been promoted through the play offs twice and will know how to approach Monday’s game.

If we don’t score in the first 20 mins or so, it will be a very nervous atmosphere. Sunderland get us on the break and it’s very much game over.

We needed a result last night and we bottled it.

I went into the game with the opinion that anything better than a 3-0 deficit could be overturned at Hillsborough. I think we are in a good place as Sunderland really should have a 2-3 goal lead already.

Sunderland will come to Sheffield on Monday trying to defend what they have, and nick a goal on the counter attack. I think we have learnt our lessons here. Any doubt, put it in the stand.

As for Wednesday, with home advantage, I expect DM will throw the kitchen sink at them from kick off. Eventually fatigue is going to set in , with two games in four days, and at that point the home advantage is going to kick in again for Wednesday.

But that's where we come in. Why be nervous. We know it transfers onto the pitch.

If you are attending on Monday, Hold your nerve. Keep on backing the team.

Just look at what happened at Fleetwood. They were sitting back, and it looked like there was no way back for us, and then Gregory gets two goals in a minute.

Try and take the emotion out of it. Hold your nerve. Our players need to do the same.

An 8-0 Wednesday win might have been better, though?

:duntmatter:

I'd still be nervous until the 87th minute in the second leg. If they pull a goal back..........

The way I see it is in Terms or a Gold / silver / bronze breakdown

a win away would be a gold medal .
a draw would have been silver

A defeat by 1 goal margin a bronze .

so we came away with a bronze . We got the minimum I would have accepted before the game .

a win would have put it in our hands , so would a draw . With a 1-0 defeat it’s kind of in their hands but not fully .

percentage wise maybe 55/45 or 60/40 in their favour .

No pressure for Monday, the expectation is now all on them.

We are forced to attack. No other way to play. They're going to be trying to protect a lead while nicking another.

Some big players to come back into the side (Hunt, Windass) to freshen things up.

It's not all doom and gloom. I think we'll be alright.

(I hope anyway)

I reckon we are done and will lose the home leg too.

We are stuck in L1 for years
