yep, palmer was the biggest attacking threat, and solid defensivley made a few poor decisions first half but 8/10 overall

There isn’t a single Wednesday player who stood out as a MOTM 

 

Bang average performance from most and pretty poor from some.

 

Palmer is hard working but in his whole career has never been as effective as Hunt at RB / RWB yet plays tonight in one of our most crucial games…that’s on DM but no way could you say Palmer was MOTM.

 

He’s a steady player 6/10 sometimes a few stand out 8/10s that’s all.

Agreed but not at the expense of Palmer as he offers us the “overlapping centre-half” option. I don’t know who you drop to get Palmer into the back three but we need the threat going forward from the back three if we want to play to our new identity and Palmer is the player the does that role.

The problem is he offers so little real threat going forward it makes us lop sided. Defensively often can't fault him but offensively not good enough.

Take a look on the Sunderland forum. The only player they thought was a threat was Palmer, which is correct. For those who are saying he was awful are either pig fans or have never seen a football game before.
