Us and the Mackems - Home & Away

Recommended Posts

That away form (especially against bottom half of the table clubs) really ruined our chance of automatic.

If we could have just nailed some of the poorer teams away from home we'd be up already.

Bloody Gills, Lincs, Shrews, Morecambe etc.

So frustrating.

If the season was another month longer I’d fancy our chances. Since January we’ve hit our stride, sadly too many points thrown away in the first few months.

Or you could argue that, at a time when a team of freebies and loanees were gelling and the defence was decimated by injuries, those draws at Cambridge, Cheltenham, and at home to Lincoln, Shrewsbury etc gave us the vital points that put us in the play offs instead of just outside. Looking back at our injuries and all the changes last summer, it’s surprising that we’ve lost so few games.

Amazing how similar we both are Home & Away. We pipped them to the top of the Home one after yesterday's result.

There's very little in it on paper. Our recent injuries I think just tips things in your favour. Broadhead has been massive for us but can't play more than 2 or 3 games on the trot without breaking down and he looks like he's done for the season. We also lost two of our starting defenders in the last week in Winchester and Cirkin which are blows to us.

We do have alot of creativity in midfield and I think for us it depends on what Neil comes up with in terms of how he has us set up to try and complement Stewart who will be a lone striker (we literally have no other strikers other than what's in our Academy). Neil has always adapted his team to who we are playing and generally got things spot on. The exception was Rotherham at home when he went a bit nuts and tried to out-Rotherham Rotherham by dropping all of our creative midfielders and tried to stop them playing with the aim of trying to win the game in the last 15-20 minutes when they were tiring. It was a mistake as they were so strong and we got out of jail with a last minute own goal. On the flipside, they didnt create loads and we nearly nicked it 2-1 at the death.

Would love a win or draw but wouldn’t be too fussed if we lose 1-0 because I fancy us to more than turn that around at Hillsborough

Just glad we’re playing  somebody like Sunderland over two legs instead of tinpot sh!te like MK or Wycombe

Sunderland seem to make the same balls ups as we do don't they?

On and off the pitch

Plus 30k gates at both games and two teams that seem to have the same plusses and negs, ones gonna miss out on the final, and neither set of supporters deserve it..

still hope to f.ook its The Mackems!!
