when was this? im glad i didnt attend football when this happened. i started going in 1984 and even back then black players at swfc were looked on in a very positive light. there wern't as many black players back then i think the 1st we had when i started going was gary thompson a powerful black striker t o t o m t o m thomo . i also attended a few away games in that era and didnt hear anything , im sure i would remember as i had 1-2 black/asian friends back then and would have been very offended if i heard those vile chants .

It did happen, and frequently.

Ok serious question why is an inflatable banana racist?

It’s just bad taste, like blacking up for fancy dress, bananas and football matches have a very chequered past.

We all the progress being made on the racism front it’s an obvious rep backwards. I know that most taking bananas won’t think too much into it and that’s where the problem lies. Just be mindful and respectful and take a blow up anything else. It’s the right thing to do

I know there are a lot of people on here with non-religious sensibilities and there may be people of other faiths, in fact I'm painfully aware that it's really a traditionally buddhist club.

Therefore I raise this with some trepidation...

How would people feel if I took a bit of Simnel cake along to eat at half time?

What flavour is it Rev?

Does it blow your mind that people still manufacture the blow up banana surely they should be banned like fire arms in your eyes?

or is there an occasion where an inflatable banana is acceptable

I’m curious now to see how you view it as something that  can be easily purchased by pretty much so anybody without discrimination to my knowledge
