Popular Post John Howard Posted April 27, 2022 Popular Post Share Posted April 27, 2022 When we attacked/went at Fleetwood in the first 15 mins we could/should have been 3.0 up (Fleetwood Match commentators words) . In the second half when we again went at them /attacked we were all over them (same Commentator). This season we have played lovely,flowing,passing football and our opposition have put men behind the ball and waited for us to .. launch the ball into a crowded area (crowded by defenders). Problem with soooo many passes is if one goes wrong ,or intercepted,or lack of concentration then we are open to the counter attack . How many times this season have we lost/drawn matches and the opposition have had only 3/2/1 chances . When we go ahead we...defend and PANIC and kick the ball anywhere and bring Dunc on to head the ball anywhere . Please don't mention that we are in the Play Offs (hopefully) ...with this squad and a more attacking style we would have been Champions weeks ago . Popular Post Mr. Tom Posted April 27, 2022 Popular Post Share Posted April 27, 2022 We’ve battered so many teams and ended up drawing or narrowly losing but I don’t think the problem has been tactical at all, we’ve just been wildly inconsistent in front of goal and let in a few daft ones like all teams do. Tighten up a fraction at both ends and we’d have romped it. Fine margins. DM has done great IMO - again, I keep saying it, yes we’ve a very strong squad now but just look at the team we came down with a year ago. I like DM. However, I still not convinced he is the right manager for us. If we do manage to get promoted this season, I would probably look at replacing Moore. With who, I'm not sure. But I'm not convinced he is capable of sorting the defence out and giving us a chance of staying up. The tactics have been SPOT ON, mostly. The issue is expectation, pressure and mentality. Collectively with the players and the fans we all poo ourselves when we concede. If conceding late on is a fear for us as fans then it’ll also naturally be a fear for players. Work needs to be done on all sides to stop that fear. That said. Vs Crewe and vs Fleetwood I don’t think there was any danger of a late goal. And again, both games, with 10 mins to go it was actually US who had the better chance to seal the game shut. Kamberi vs Crewe and Windass last night. We are FOURTH. There is very little wrong with our season. Yes we've thrown silly points away. We also gained three points vs Wimbledon and MK Dons at home so swings and roundabouts really. Furthermore, we had a horrendous injury crisis through the start and middle half of the season. Gregory’s scored 15 goals but missed two months (?) of football. Windass has missed most of the season. We’ve not had a consistent defence all season for various reasons. and at the end of last season a lot of our own fans were predicting a double drop. A lot couldn’t see us rebuilding a team and acquiring the right team spirit to fight in this league and wrote us off. A lot said that they’d be happy with a consolidation season. WE ARE FOURTH.
