Bailey Cadamarteri almost ready for a pro deal

Recommended Posts

It all kind of depend though whether we have learnt anything from the massive failing with youth players over the last 5 years.

offer him a multi year deal, with options to extend if he continues his progression or offer him a 1 year scholarship deal/ 'best deal for his age' excuse he wont be here next season.

Show we value youth, by showing them the same loyalty we expect of good young players coming through.

he may not want a multi year deal . if he's as good as we hope he is he'd be better off signing  a one year deal and then negotiate himself a better deal  at the end of that one .....course if he turns out to be a dud he may regret not signing a longer one .......

If he's ready he's old enough,  not the other way round.

Or if he's good enough he's old enough.

All those players we lost to the Premier er Championship, ooh league One, if only we had kept them could have sold them for billions.

You're going to bang on about Hirst now aren't you?

The best thing we can do and seem to be doing, is show him a clear route through to the first team in the short term. He’s already been training with them and playing u23 football at 16.

If he moved elsewhere he’s just another prospect on a decent wage but might not play first team football for some time and need various loans. Whereas playing where he’s settled and with family around might actually accelerate his career or potential earnings in the medium term as anyone buying him (assuming he’s successful) would be buying him as a first team player on bigger wages.
