Brian Hornsby 1978/79 Season.

Recommended Posts

Scored 21 goals in all competitions,  even though we finished 17th.

I was 10 years old that season, obsessed with SWFC as only a 10 yeard old can be, but it's only now looking through some old records that I see how profilic he was.

17 in the league for a winger . That would be outstanding these days.

Rodger Wylde scored 14 in the league as well I think.

Not sure what the point of this thread is but I'm sure it will make some posters cast their memories back to another 3rd tier era 😁

He was a great player, wasn't a winger though was he?

I don’t know why I'm remembering him as winger ? 🤔

Just have an image of his bubble perm bouncing freely as he ran down the wing in front of the North Stand.

Great player. His quality stood out a mile in that team.

I remember a great diving header he scored at the mop end - can’t remember who it was against.

His hair was a bit like a mop end

He was a player that I would have walked the 9 miles to Hillsborough to see.  In a different class in that team.  A true star

Great player, one of my favourites at the time when Big Jack had put a great side together.

I particularly remember this goal at Brentford in our promotion season 79/80. I was stood right behind it on the open end as it flew into the top corner. The goal is from 6.10.

Thanks for that

What a fantastic shirt that was
