trev
Should be a decent group for England. Would be nice to hopefully go into the final group game on 6 points and hopefully put either Wales or Scotland out.
darra
Has a group been named as the group of death yet? Or would that be in bad taste considering what's happening?

More than 6,500 migrant workers from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have died in Qatar since it won the right to host the World Cup 10 years ago, the Guardian can reveal. The findings, compiled from government sources, mean an average of 12 migrant workers from these five south Asian nations have died each week since the night in December 2010 when the streets of Doha were filled with ecstatic crowds celebrating Qatar’s victory.

fudge27
Not a bad draw at all. Tim Vickery bigging Brazil and Argentina up, but think the winner will be from Europe. Spain, France or hopefully England (I know)
Bannofan
Best reporting from a Journo out there at the moment is from Miguel Delaney, he writes for the Independent and Guardian, and is quite active on Social Media. He says just being out there really brings it home how ludicrous it is that it's being played there. Qatar is the same is as the West Midlands, or the Greater Dublin area. Very much a one City country..Doha IS Qatar..there isn't anywhere else. He has no idea where the fans are going to stay, unless they dont stay in Qatar. Aye, I was reading earlier and they were quite calmly saying people might have to fly in to go the matches! They are using a couple of cruise liners as floating hotels. It is totally bonkers, must admit that the stadium made of old shipping containers is quite cool though.
darra
Listening to a few reports which were saying that the stadiums are fairly close to each other and because of how kickoff times are being staggered it might be possible to take in 3 maybe more games a day. As for the winners on paper it should be a European side, surprised to hear it's nearly 20 years since Brazil last won, but the heat will be a factor. During the day it can get up to 50c and in the evenings 35c which should suit the South American sides more?

Screen Door Slams
The distance between the two stadiums that are the furthest apart is the same as the distance between Leeds and York !!! A lot of talk that people who can afford it will stop in Dubai and fly in for the games.
Sova
4 matches a day in the group stage. Any team in group G or H that makes the final will play 7 games in 25 days.

Before the flying blockade between UAE & Qatar, there were 20 a day for approx £100 return. Hopefully this schedule comes back online! Don’t fancy 6 hours on a bus & paying for a visa through Saudi Arabia.

Lot of work for us to get there first but that’s a group we can qualify from. Ally McCoist thought the same in 1978.

Football isn’t played on paper, it will still be tough for whoever qualifies but it’s a far weaker group than what it could have been. Germany were in pot 2, Poland were in pot 3, instead it’s USA and Iran which should be much better. Even you being the pot 1 side is preferable, we’ve avoided the big guns, there’s only Qatar that Wales or Scotland would have preferred and picked ahead of England IMO.

You've just drawn the euro finalists. This England team is as good as any of the other pot 1 teams.
