Beer in the stadium

Missed the Gillingham game as I took my nephew to a local stadium here in Germany.

I was impressed about the service. This geezer served beer during the whole game. The beer did not mind to see the pitch.😉

Would be nice to have that at Hillsborough as well.

What is stopping us? Is it a UK law?

Aye, some sort of football only related law where you are not allowed to drink beer in view of the pitch. That said, I know that Real Madrid don't serve beer at their matches, but Barca do.

Won't happen and I don't think it should tbh.

Unless we all want to be covered in beer and ******** evertytime we score.

Which will be inevitable just like every time England score these days.

Some people are well oiled up due to pre match drinking before they even enter the ground, so having alcohol available during the game itself is only going to cause more problems.

Might work fine in Germany, but not in England, sadly.

Yet again it’s the few that ruin it for the many. You just know some tail is going to chuck it all over officials, opponents and anyone else.

I don't think the throwing drinks is the issue.

Seeing as you can buy scalding hot coffee/bovril etc and take them to your seat.

It's the mindless behaviour from the minority that is often fuelled by alcohol.

I think, like a lot of things over here, there would be an initial spike in drunken idiots going overboard, but as the novelty wore off it would calm down and just be a normal thing to have a beer while sat/stood watching the match.

Sort of think 95% of people wold have no problem with but always be a small minority who would throw it around or similar.

Also I sit on end of a row and would be forever moving for the beer seller, people going to beer seller, people wanting even more to answer a call of nature.

Apparently we used to be able to drink in our seats back in the day.

Think part of the pre match binging is people are trying to "rush" pints rather than drinking sensibly. Like many things in life though we have to cater for the lowest common denominator

Still no alcohol allowed full stop in stadiums in Scotland!

When I go to Hearts games it’s only in hospitality where you can and even then only for certain games where you can get a drink. I totally get the reasoning for games involving clubs with a ton of arseholes in their support (Celtic/Rangers/Hibs etc) but for the other teams they should definitely review it and allow it.

It’s a huge missed revenue opportunity. It’s not going to kick off for example when teams like Ross County or Livingston come to Tynecastle. Another example of Scottish football being stuck in the dark ages
