Owlabroad2001
Just wondering, if we are in the Pub League again next year would anyone be against bringing him back? He’s decent in the air and pretty quick. He did miss a few chances today but he’s scored more for the relegation threatened Gills than any of our players this season. I’m just thinking he’d be a decent option to have. He’s miles better than Kamberi and Sow and probably Paterson too.

1867tons
Looked more threatening than our front lot. I’m not sure the fact that he is an ex Owl played on my thought process but he looked most likely to score today.
Pete Zarhutt
No. I'd take their #3 though. Gillinghams best player today by a mile.

adelphi1867
Why are Wednesday fans so arrogant as to using derogative terms for the 3rd tier of English football?. 2
Bluesteel.
I would, his contract is up and I bet his wages would be the same or less than say Kamberi. We don’t really have the option of a natural target man. Neither Gregory or Paterson have that as their natural role. Oliver has done that unselfish role all his career but at Northampton and then last season at Gillingham added more goals than he had previously. He got 18 last season I think. Has been a real handful both games this season and as we have seen in previous spells here a bit of lower league nous helps get you through certain games. Ryan Lowe had it, Maclean, Peacock etc all did it even if they weren’t all prolific. First choice would be Michael smith, unlikely to want to play this level if he’s just gone up but also on a free I think and I bet we’d pay a championship wage
Jim
If we are still in this division next season, we may have to look at signing forwards who have a knowledge and a proven track record at this level.
S72 Owl
30 year old and only hit double figures once in his career. What ever division were in next season our forward line needs a complete re think. Edited March 20, 2022 by S72 Owl

We’re too small of a squad to defend and attack set plays the amount of points we’ve thrown away because if this plus the amount of draws we’ve had because we can’t find a way to get the winner this is an option that could put us 15 points plus on the table

jonnyowl
No more than a back up. Widnass, Gregory Berahino, Oliver would be a decent front 4 to choose from in league one if they all stayed fit.

We need to find someone we think can give us that extra fire power. But if Windass is still here and fit (two ifs) we have that already

I like him, but if he's on £15-20k pw that's simply unsustainable for a player who isn't really a first choice in the side, whether we're still in L1 or not, so I'd have to let him go. Unless he took a huge pay cut, which works in FM games but not in the real world, footballers just aren't willing to do that.

Bluesteel.
Paterson has another year. I think with someone like Oliver who we released many years ago is the exact example of someone who has had to prove themselves and has had the hunger to do it. It would be full circle for him.
