Vadaine Oliver

Recommended Posts

Just wondering, if we are in the Pub League again next year would anyone be against bringing him back?
He’s decent in the air and pretty quick. He did miss a few chances today but he’s scored more for the relegation threatened Gills than any of our players this season.

I’m just thinking he’d be a decent option to have. He’s miles better than Kamberi and Sow and probably Paterson too.

I would, his contract is up and I bet his wages would be the same or less than say Kamberi.

We don’t really have the option of a natural target man. Neither Gregory or Paterson have that as their natural role.

Oliver has done that unselfish role all his career but at Northampton and then last season at Gillingham added more goals than he had previously. He got 18 last season I think. Has been a real handful both games this season and as we have seen in previous spells here a bit of lower league nous helps get you through certain games. Ryan Lowe had it, Maclean, Peacock etc all did it even if they weren’t all prolific.

First choice would be Michael smith, unlikely to want to play this level if he’s just gone up  but also on a free I think and I bet we’d pay a championship wage

I’d like to think we could, would an will attract and be in for much better

looking at our strike force next season I’d be thinking
Gregory

Berahino

Patterson

Windass - possible sale

Sow release

kamberi - loan  return

then we are looking at bringing in 2-3 strikers and we can do much better than mentioned

if we’re looking at bringing in an ex player that will be cheap that we know can perform in the league above it should only be one man and that’s Nuhiu however I think we need that youth/ young player that target man battling ram, And some electric pace and hopefully sone height in there

we need that 20 goal striker who we got in our ranks that could do that berahino and windass possibly?

with Johnson, Mendez Laing and hunt all putting crosses in and for set pieces alone and with  our midfield we need sone height or Ariel presence in there too. We’re too small of a squad to defend and attack set plays

the amount of points we’ve thrown away because if this plus the amount of draws we’ve had because we can’t find a way to get the winner this is an option that could put us 15 points plus on the table

As a suggestion to add power pace and arial threat to our forward line cheaply I would look at adding Freddy ledapo from Rotherham he’d give us something we haven’t got

not sure if he’s out of contract this summer or next but yeah put in a transfer request in December  and that soured what the fans thought of him and I don’t think he started a game since they played us ( did he score too? )

unless a championship club came in for him pushing playoffs I think he’d be all over a move to us

We do need to score more goals and Oliver wouldn’t be the sole answer to that but I think he’d add something to the mix that we don’t really have and has shown he can score goals too.

We need to find someone we think can give us that extra fire power. But if Windass is still here and fit (two ifs) we have that already

Paterson is out of contract in the summer I think (possibly Berahino as well?).

I like him, but if he's on £15-20k pw that's simply unsustainable for a player who isn't really a first choice in the side, whether we're still in L1 or not, so I'd have to let him go. Unless he took a huge pay cut, which works in FM games but not in the real world, footballers just aren't willing to do that.

Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.
