No, I think you may be getting confused with his son Alex Bruce who played full international football for both Northern Ireland and the Republic Of Ireland. The only player to do so since 1950. Fabulous player in the centre of the midfield for Villa. Maybe the England managers all had Trevor Francis syndrome and thought he should be playing on the right wing? I did think of going 4-4-2 and having Dean Sturridge as the other attacker as he was excellent for Derby County for a few seasons in the Premier League, hence Arsenal wanting him for £6,000,000. There was also an excellent up and coming player at Blackburn Rovers but his career got ruined by injuries.
