Abramovich sanctioned

Fans of all clubs would do it. It's not a Chelsea thing.

It's them sticking their fingers up in a time of adversity. Plus they're not exactly singing Vladmir Putin's name.

It's completely moronic, but we'd do the same (not every supporter, obviously).

I second that motion!

Just a thoroughly unpleasant club.

The owner, a section of their fans, John Terry etc.

They sold their soul to the devil, won all there is to win with his money, and now it may all come to roost.

Barclays frozen the club accounts too.

Does that mean they can't pay the players then? A few months of that and there'll be issues there. Think players can walk away after so long without pay, plus as we've seen, threats of points deductions follow.

Something rather apt about them playing Newcastle this weekend.

Another club awash with blood money. The Saudis have been bombing the poo out of Yemen for several years, have journalists chopped up etc.

Awks...

At which point three possibilities present themselves. Alan Shearer has never heard of the war in Yemen. Alan Shearer is unaware of who Mohammed bin Salman is, or what he does as his main day job. Or third, Alan Shearer is wiling to overlook both of these things because he really likes and cares about Newcastle United.

I think it was Henry Winter's (the footballing writer's equivalent of an IKEA wardrobe with an integral part missing) tweet about it that made me think.

Roman apparently wasn't a problem all these years but now he is?

What about Newcastle and Man City's owners?

Funnily enough I think the Chelsea fans when singing about their owner are singing about him rather than going against the people of Ukraine.

There's been a lot of talk about gay players in the sport for years. Imagine being a closeted player at Newcastle, or even a member of staff.
