And Poland say they will not play against them " regardless of any name they choose to use to continue playing " Cue FIFA to announce that Russia will now play under the name Football Association of Russia

What a farce don’t matter what you call them it’s still Russia for christs sake.

Yes but when you've taken Russian money to ensure they got the World Cup FIFA will do anything to support them...unfortunately the rest of football do not feel the same way

That's a good point. Be interesting to see the fifa response to all this. They'll probably award Russia the win in every game they have where opponents refuse to play up to and including the world Cup final.

Fair play to Poland for refusing to play them. Sweden / Czech also refusing (they would be the opponents if they "beat" Poland).

Imagine the already farcical Qatar world cup in stadiums built on slave labour, in winter when the bid stated a summer world cup and paid for in massive back handers potentially having a team with no name which nobody will play!

Be interesting to see which countries, if any will agree to let Russia use them for home games as a “neutral” territory.

China might, but at the moment it is irrelevant as their opponents in the play offs wont play against them, so that's Russia qualifying for the world cup by default, and winning it if no one will play against them, unless FIFA get in line with everyone else and ignore the money

Think FIFA will see which way the wind is blowing and not allow any Russian sides to continue in any of the competitions while the Ukraine situation is still going on.

If these games did take place they would be too much pressure put on sponsors to pull out of FIFA and broadcasters refusing to show the game.

In the end money will talk.

On which unlikeable people own football clubs really is a can of worms. Not sure how you can police it as multi billionaire owners can employ best lawyers to get round any measure you put in they place.

Plus like others have said FIFA is hardly the most moral organisation in the world.

Probably looking back with rose tinted glasses but wish football would go back to just being a game sometimes.
