George Byers

Looks like he should be minding a stall on Eastenders.

Stuart Gray used to say that Kieren Lee plays like he has wingmirrors on, Byers is the same and jinks about like Lee too.

Very good player and he seems to be enjoying it!

Don't want to come across as confrontational (swear I'm not), but I'm honestly amazed you didn't notice it early doors! He was clearly lacking fitness and sharpness, but he so clearly had talent, very good touch and moved the ball smartly, he just needed the minutes under his belt. Also from memory he was playing at the base of the midfield... which he clearly can do but is probably better as a 'ball shuffler' rather than a sitting player.

Anyway, regardless, I'm glad he's shown what I think we were all hoping he would offer. I'm still frightened half to death that both he and Luongo seem vulnerable to knocks and may break any minute, but I don't think anyone that says our current midfield 3 is a good Championship midfield is exaggerating

Love a bit of ball shuffling mesel

Really enjoyed watching him yesterday - Byers, Bannan and Luongo all compliment each other really well.

Byers just looks very comfortable with the ball - aware of what’s around him - presents options for the player in possession. He doesn’t do anything extravagant, just keeps it simple and plays through those lines.

Hes also not bad of the ball either - loved that good old fashioned sliding 50/50 yesterday.

Byres makes our midfield play again like when we had Keiren Lee in there is technical ability suits bannan but because he offers so much more like goals and defensive duties with luongo the pressure comes off of bannan and there’s a fluidity to our midfield

for so long it’s been regimented and bannan has had to play nearly centre back at one point yesterday I was sure if bannan was playing up front he was that far forward

that midfield 3 is working now and I’d say Byres was the missing link to pull out the other two strengths snd gave them playing as a unit

for me easily the best midfield 3 in the league
