With rising energy costs, they should really turn the scoreboard off during the week,. Imo

All the Stewards in the Presto stand huddled together for warmth.

Send em home ffs.

Nice foam roller though. That’ll sort it. Ffs

Makes a good point about how long we didn’t play on the pitch. 7 weeks between Wycombe & Plymouth should have meant the pitch was in a very good condition.

Would be very interesting to know why the pitch has deteriorated to the level it has. When you see United’s in top condition with literally the same weather as us and supposedly the same Desso pitch, it suggests that the upkeep of the Desso has been neglected. Wether that’s to do with cost or personnel? Who knows.

But what a shame that 6 years after spending £1m on a pitch it’s starting to look like it did back in 14/15.

If you buy a Bugatti Veyron and put a morris minor engine in it, it wont perform to the level it should.

Presumably the same can be said of a £1m desso pitch if you dont look after it, year on year it gets worse. The grass in Hillsborough park is in better nick than the Hillsborough stadium.

Wasn't the pitch relaid last summer?

I'm almost sure it was.

Quiet news day, on the sporting front at least, so the local press seem to be searching out every comment players have made about the Hillsborough pitch recently. In fact there are two comments. One by Liam Palmer almost two weeks ago and one by Jack Hunt today. Before going full Tonto on this let’s see how it plays on Saturday after a couple of dry days and a couple of weeks for the ground staff to work on it.

It’s the end of a long Winter and we all know some of the reasons like lack of sunlight , high water table etc. But hey these guys are professionals and must be able to adapt to different playing conditions. At the end of the day our players are used to playing on it. Visiting teams are not. Surely we have an advantage in that respect.

Anyway what’s betting the sprinklers are on pre the game Saturday.

We have the lights don't we?

It seems its a case of not having the right staff at the club to sort it or maintain it, is this Chansiri not spending or just appointing the wrong people? or both

Ive read posts over the last 2 weeks about how we had the ground staff previously who could look after it properly as has been seen over the first few years of the new pitch - then last 2-3 years its been shocking and not looked after it seems.

What can be done?

I saw the sand in the car park - is that going to help? how does that help?

The main aim of the sand will be to improve drainage, aeration and will also help with levelling the surface.

I’m presuming the sand pile is covered because it has to be dry to have any affect.

No wasn’t covered when I saw it, is there a special kind of sand that’s needed?
