Injured this time next week

Indeed - anyone near the first team squad are not being ‘warmed up ‘ properly on a match day.

Just watch how the opposition warm up - much more rigorous than our ‘kick about’..

This just never happens does it ?   Remember Mark Platts  at 16 coming on as a sub for Waddle?   what a prospect, soon went to Torquay then Worksop !   Ritchie Humphreys ?   ended up as Chesterfields right back !

Humphries had a very long league career and is a legend at Hartlepool United.

Richard Wood, Mark Beever, Rory Mcardle, Tommy Spurr, Richard O'Donnell, Adam Davies, Steven Quinn, Del Geary, Leigh Bromby to name a few.

We seem very good at producing solid defenders and keeperd, none have played in the premier league all have had decent careers that have last 10 years+.

Absolutely agree, however at the moment we are governed by the chairmans often unrealistic ambitions and fans wanting instant success. To achieve bringing on young players we need patience and encouragement because our fans need to support that approach. It takes time but certainly in the long run brings success which is sustainable. How many fans will give a manager or chairman time to follow that approach. Therefore me there lies problem, its short term that wins sadly.

The fans expect, but the fans are paying the highest prices in the league, we have a chairman saying 'buy your tickets now because next season back in the championship they will be higher'.

it is not the fans causing this, its the fool in charge.

We were losing £20m+ in the championship every season, we have lost the tv money and not spent on fees this season, but we have wasted money on Gibson, Brown, Wing, Berahino, Sow, John Jules. We are probably going to have losses of £10m+. We have probably wasted a few million on wages and loan fees for players no better than what we had.

when we have Galvin, Waldock, Hunt, Brennan, Wildsmith, Dawodu, Hagen any of these players could have been given game time, bar Brennan and Wildsmith none have.

this is not the fans fault this is the people managing the team and the club.

Rotherham, Wigan, Sunderland, Wycombe all pushing for promotion all giving younger players game time.

I wonder if Journalists are a huge part of the problem, any scout worth their salt will be seeking info like this.

Probably the reason we'll lose Bailey Cadamatri. Build their stardom and someone else will be able to value them more than us.

I understand the world is hard though with everyone trying to justify their jobs

Just a thought.

Bailey is scouted constantly by a top Premier league team and has been for the last 3 years. Probably others watching him as well.

Dean gets injured we have a centre back in Brennan - Moore instead plays Palmer

We get injuries in central midfield we have a ready made replacement in Waldock instead Moore pick Paterson.

we have a few forwards injured will Hagan or Cadamarteri play instead we play Sow or Berahino or worse Brown.

We have young players who really should get a chance, the problem is we have a manager and coaching staff that see younger players as a last case scenario, when others cannot play out of position.

Brennan is a right sided defender, hence he can’t play on the left. Palmer better option.

Paterson’s best season in the Premier was as an attacking midfielder. Hence a better option than untried youngsters.

Sow has done well recently. Why the hell would we put a teenager in or Hagan who was crap in non-league? Sow beat option

So happy you aren’t our manager. Ridiculous post!

Compare those names with a nearby club. Maguire, Walker, Calvert-Lewin, Ramsdale, all could be in England's World Cup team. Even Lowton and Naughton have had better careers than the ones you named. Not to mention Billy Sharp. Sadly, as with most things we are useless at producing players.

Im hardly Liam Palmer’s biggest fan but even I could see bring him on ahead of Brennan was 100% the correct decision

Similar to Paterson being selected over Waldock (or whichever academy player we want to name who is magically amazing just by virtue of being an academy player)

Tbh those aren't even bad examples of him playing players out of position. Palmer and Paterson I wouldn't consider to be massively out of position playing there. And Berahino thats his actual position he's just bad at it.

Can think of quite a few other examples this season of players played in the wrong place.

And how would you feel to see him leave without playing professionally for us?

It happens at clubs all over the world. He will need to do what he thinks is best for his career.

We, the club, are a very small fish in a very big pond.

It takes time to develop young players you make it sound they can all walk into the team and they will excell . Reality is different of course we need to develop our young players. Who is blaming the fans not me, we are in a mess because of the chairman's  strategy. I just said will our fans be patient if we decide to take that route, evidence suggests otherwise.

No i dont, what i was saying was young players need to be given a chance. That all i was saying they need to be given games, allowed to play, they will make mistakes, but getting regular game time in the third division, we will have some first team players within a season or two.

But in true Owlstalk fashion, not you, but others they are not good enough, they are only going out on loan to none league teams, they are not ready, blah blah blah.

They are only going out on loan to none league clubs because our youth is very very badly managed. Brennan should be playing week in week out did he go out on loan in January now this wont happen unless he goes none league, the same Waldock, Hagan, Dawodu.

We have an injury crisis with 10 players out of 23 man squad injured do we give youth a chance, NO we sign more loan players that have not played regular and guess what they get injured.

we will once again on Saturday be picking a team with square pegs in round holes. But the two games Johnson played Wing back instead of Centre back he has been one of the best players on the pitch.

It's alright calling for the youngsters to be given a chance, but they have to be physically ready, as well as Technicaly ready.

These players who are only 16 years old need to be sent out to other leagues to gain experience of adult football.

Yep. Cadamateri looks promising but at that age unless he's built like Wayne Rooney was then he's probably not going to be ready.

He should be looking to play first team football in 23/24 season, so another 18 months. Unfortunately though he's unlikely to still be here by then.

Not much can be done about it really until the club is back in the top flight as he's bound to get better offers.

Indeed but we need to be managing the youth players, something that is clearly not happening at all levels of the club.

i hear this morning Man City are scouting Cadamateri, he stays at SWFC he will drift until he is 20-22 barely play other than development games, maybe a none league loan then he will be released because he is not good enough.

he signs for Man City, he goes into their youth team within 18 months he will be out on loan playing league football, he will get regular game time as it will be stipulated as part of the loan, he will develop into a good squad player for the first team or end up being sold to a championship, EPL team or a club from abroad and they will get a good fee and a sell on or buy back option for him.

the same player, the same talent, one club values youth and develops it the other is us.

I don't understand what you're proposing the club do about it though. If Man City want him he will go there.

What should Wednesday do to make a different outcome? We can't play him if he's not ready right now, we need to try and get promoted. We can't give him a £2m contract either in League 1.

The reality is we can't really offer him anything to compete with Premier League clubs either pathway wise, financially, facilities, coaching. Nothing can be done
