Sorry to be pedantic, but if they have de, di, von or van in them, they're not double barrelled. Same for Mc!!

More unmarried parents being less uptight about which parent’s surname the kids use, so they get both. I think historically, a double barrelled name indicated the shame of a barsteward, I.e. born out of wedlock.

 

What gets me is, with the vast increase in double barrelled names, why are there no quadruple names appearing?
