Burnley are in a relegation battle with Newcastle . Not sure why they’ve sanctioned this, unless they’ve got someone lined up

Newcastle triggered the release clause in his contract according to BBC sport.

Could be a shrewd bit of business..It's not a hell of a lot of money for a proven premier goal scorer.

Not as if they have to negotiate the cost.

Thread will be worth re-visiting in May.

I think it’s a good signing for an okay price

Newcastle have a problem because although Callum Wilson is a very good player - he's rarely available

I suppose Wood gives them another string to their bow with his style

Do Newcastle have the players to create chances for him?

He's been off the boil lately as Burnley have gone into freefall, not because he's lost any form. He's only getting half chances set up for him

He's not going to win matches by himself; he needs an effective support team and there's not been much evidence that Newcastle have that right now

It's a fascinating game.

Premier League fixtures this weekend pit all the positional rivals against each other.

Man City vs. Chelsea.

Tottenham vs. Arsenal

Newcastle vs. Watford

Norwich vs. Everton

Aston Villa vs. Man Utd

Huge games for either end of the table.

Says something when the premier league is more unmissable than watching your own club.

Burnley v Watford in midweek is a big game too.
