Scariest ever away day experience

Port Vale away under Turner. Got thrashed 3-0, played absolutely dreadful.

Getting back to Stoke station was a nightmare, even worse was the ambush by Stoke fans.

Port Vale can be a bit scary, I remember when we won at Vale when Sturruck was manager and after game they were a right mob of Vale waiting in center of Burslem, only 4 of us but they were eyeing us up, managed to jump in a taxi to get to train station.

Sat in with Blades at Wembley semi final as couldn’t get home end ticket - I was 11 ! Went down on my own and jumped up when Waddle scored 😱then came about 50 staring faces with a few slitting throat gestures but luckily I happened to be sat next to a huge ( physically) Wednesday fan who didn’t seem to give a poo about the piggy fans and kept repeatedly shouting “ that’s football Wednesday, that’s football” and none of them said a word to him - never forget it …

Was before mobile phones/ internet etc .. so most away games in them days was about meeting up and sticking together and covering each other’s backs … makes it sound like “The warriors “ film 😂…but they where crazy away days

West ham away when newsome equalised. West ham out for blood.

Any London lot in 80s especially Chelsea until the swiss cottage incident with blades when all seemed happy after that.

Man utd semi when "mistaken" Munich chants ( although got sorted in replay)

Port vale when stoke were waiting for us after at station.

Bristol city when we got to their boozer too early and they just kept bringing more and more ( even worse at home when at pumphouse)

Oldham all time.

Filbert Street mid 80s, we'd just won 3-2.

There seened to be 3 fights going on outside the ground afterwards : a handful of Owls & Leicester fans kicking each other, some Leicester fans fighting amongst themselves & a much larger fight involving both home & away fans who seemed to have teamed up to fight a bunch of racist knuckledraggers that were on a BNP/NF march that day.

Leciestershire Police didn't muck about - they just opened a van & let the dogs lose on everyone.

Cup game at Anfield in 80's. Kicked off in Stanley park. One lad got slashed quite bad. Scousers were all "tooled up" with craft knives. Nawty to say the least.

This..was only young in the 80s and Liverpool was a horrible place to visit..might be my imagination but they allways seemed to be night matches..and them jolly old salt of the earth scousers..running about slashing everybody😮

I've been scared at plenty of games but the one that stands out for me was at Bramhall lane, it was probably in the late 70's.

Wednesday weren't playing our game had been postponed, cue hundreds of Wednesdayites thinking it would be a good idea to go to the lane and watch them play Arsenal in the 3rd round of the FA cup. Pay on the day, Shoreham end.

Arsenal scored in the first few minutes and the wednesdayites on their kop went nuts, then Arsenal scored again and we all thought it was fun to take our scarves out and let them know who we were. 30 minutes of carnage ensued. Never known fear like it, the lads I was with about 40 of us just revelled in the whole thing, come half time I legged it.

Think Arsenal won 5 nil.

Russian Warship.... Go fxxk yourselves.

Oldham in early 80’s. Think I was about 12 at the time. Felt physically sick.

Tottenham away in mid 90’s. Escorted on foot between 2 sets of tower blocks. Got pelted with missiles. Couldn’t really tell where they were coming from. The guy next to me got hit by a roof slate. Head split open like a watermelon.

Derby away. Late eighties at the old Baseball Ground. Got trapped between two groups of Derby fans in that fenced off waste ground in front of the away end. I’m a lover not a fighter and got the bejesus kicked out of me. 3 broken ribs, broken finger and 6 stitches in my face.

Maine Road, League Cup around '77.

We were in the stand which when we scored a late goal to put us in the lead was invaded by Manc thugs who started laying into anyone and everyone.

In true Wednesday style we conceded 2 very late goals and all calmed down.

We were on the Kippax End that night... turned out it was the safest place for Wednesday fans to be.
