Exactly! Well said.

Plus the pitches in his day were nothing like as easy to play on as they are nowadays.

Players just generally got on with things then. There was only one substitute per team allowed in his day.

Loyal too, Mike Lyons played over 500 games for Everton & the Owls.

Proper legend!

In those day fans from the 50's called these players nesh, long haired layabouts who kissed each other.

Given our dire performance at Shrewsbury on Sun, He’d had Roasted quite a few of the players especially Berahino.

Love this.

Just before my time as a player. How good was he, compared to say Pearson / Anderson?

The leadership quality and bravery of Pearson. The footballing quality of Anderson. Not shy of a tackle. Very determined. Hard as fvvcking nails.

He was quite a capture from Everton. The player to get us over the (promotion) line IMO.

Alan Smith describing an injury Lyons received in the League Cup Quarter Final v Liverpool.

Amazing he played on after treatment and it didn't keep him out after. He played every game (53) in that season and scored 5 goals as he captained us to promotion back to the top flight.

This gang we have now would be out for 6 months with an injury like that.
