Tommy Crawshaw
Alan Smith describing an injury Lyons received in the League Cup Quarter Final v Liverpool. Amazing he played on after treatment and it didn't keep him out after. He played every game (53) in that season and scored 5 goals as he captained us to promotion back to the top flight. 1

Sambo89
I heard he twisted a ball, carried on the game, breast fed a crying baby outside the ground, then got a page 3 model up the duff all in one afternoon. 1

I seem to remember a thread, or a post in a thread by someone saying he lives in Australia now & has great memories of his time with us. Great times actually to be a Wednesday player or fan.

He wouldn't be out for weeks with a little knock or strain like our lot are these days. Exactly! Well said. Plus the pitches in his day were nothing like as easy to play on as they are nowadays. Players just generally got on with things then. There was only one substitute per team allowed in his day. Loyal too, Mike Lyons played over 500 games for Everton & the Owls. Proper legend!

parkfieldowl14
The lack of ‘Tough as Nails’ Footballers such Mick Lyons in the modern game is why I’m starting to detest the modern game especially the PL. 4
