Popular Post Lord Snooty
"Happy New year Sir!" "Happy! Happy? Did you see the Sunderland game, Stubbs?" "Yes Sir. But today is a new day. A new year!" "Five nil. Five goals to nil!" "These anomalies happen, Sir" "Anomaly! It was a thrashing!" "They happen from time to time. You were reveling about the unbeaten 12 match run before kick-off, Sir" "Yes! Before we got tonked! They all want shooting!" "Sir, the club has a stack of injuries , and the manager mentioned in last weeks press that there have only been 6 or 7 players in training because of the Covid outbreak on top of the injuries. Then of course there was the near 3 week break from action. It really is little surprise" "It was a disgrace!" "Do you remember the party against Wycombe, Sir? The last time we were down in this division?" "Of course I do! What a day! What a run-in! Fourteen match unbeaten run. Eleven wins!" "Yes, exactly ,Sir. But there was also a 5-1 'tonking' by Stevenage in there that season. It didn't matter in the big scheme of thing. There's half the games still left to play this season. A couple of wins. An Antonio type signing and you never kno-" "We don't need another winger!" "I mean a transfer to bolster the squad Sir, it doesn't have to be a winger. It could be a galvanising centre half or a midfield hatchet man. My point is, one bad defeat doesn't make a season." "Yes. Yes,I suppose you have a point, Stubbs. Hells bells, we're still in this thing aren't we?!. It is a New Year. Our year! I need to be more positive about things! Woooo! Let's have it!" "Indeed, Sir" "Right then, what news from the Club" "Not much ,Sir. Luongo is still suspended. Dunkley is injured. Windass is 50/50 for the game tomorrow. Shodipo has done his hamstring. It seems Corbeanu may be recalled by Wolves , and the deafening silence on Iorfa is leading to rumours that he could well be about to be sold to raise a few pounds as the club still finds itself in soft embargo. Oh, and no one knows if Lewis Wing has been recalled by 'Boro or is staying here until the end of the season." "Happy New Year indeed! Pour me another" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SHREWSBURY TOWN V WEDNESDAY Kick Off : 3:00 pm The New Meadow ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SHREWSBURY TOWN Shrewsbury are likely to be without Aaron Pierre and Khanya Leshabela again on Sunday, with the duo missing out in midweek due to testing positive for COVID-19. The cases have been contained as thing stand though, with no further positive results being recorded at the time of writing. Eighteen-year-old Tom Bloxham will serve the final game of the his three-match suspension, meaning Ryan Bowman and Daniel Udoh should continue up front, with the latter scoring three and assisting one in his last three appearances. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEDNESDAY Josh Windass is 50/50 after he was ruled out of the heavy loss to Sunderland due to a minor strain. Lewis Wing's availability remains to be seen, as he looks set to be recalled by parent club Middlesbrough following a COVID-19 outbreak in their camp. The fitness of Cheyenne Dunkley is also in question, as the central defender was replaced midway through the first half against Sunderland due to injury, whilst Massimo Luongo will serve the third and final game of his three-game ban for a recent red card. 17 2

nevthelodgemoorowl
Aye remember that cup game leading 2-1 as we entered the last minutes ? "Well I would have been happy with a replay too". Us lefties have to look out for small mercies; I see Venesa Redgrave was awarded her Damehood in the honours list. Woe is me I think she has Flip Flopped to the right !
Joe Sunburn
Pour one for me as well. I don’t know what to expect. Both teams missing players and unfit. Here we go! UTO

areNOTwhatTHEYseem
With Luongo serving the last match of his ban and with Dunkley out, I really fear the worst. Shrewsbury will know we have a soft underbelly and will target it every chance they get. I wouldn't be surprised to see Paterson brought back into defence, but either way, it's looking desperate. I just hope Windass is fit and we're able to at least offer a bit more of a threat at the other end of the pitch.

Can you get into the dressing room and explain what that means to the players. They seem to have lost the plot. 1
Guest 123adam789
The depths this club as sunk to. We are like shiitting dogs at the propect of playing this well known team from the mighty county of Shropshire. Thanks DC, DM and not forgetting that shower who pull on the blue and white striped shirt.

Manwë
Wednesday go into this strong, with a team seeking vengeance, and vengeance shall be delivered. "Is it Shrew or is it Shrow?" will never be asked again. "What disaster took place here?" will be the question asked when the aforementioned town is demolished by the Wednesday, and all that remains are a smoking ruin and a rubble of limbs and skulls. Owls eat shrews, a well known fact. Today, we feast. Shrewsbury 1 Wednesday 2. 2
A47Owl
Happy New Year to you and Stubbs your Lordship and everyone on Owlstalk. Let's hope for a better 2022 all round. Shrewsbury? With all due respect to them. Who are they? Where are they? What have they achieved? You couldn't image us playing Shrewsbury in a League 1 game even a couple of years ago. Regrettably we now have to accept that this is the level we are at and hope that we manage to scrape a win. How the mighty (massive) are fallen. Thanks Mr Chansiri. You really have wrecked our club. A succession of mistakes and misconstrued actions leave us with our first game in a new year being at SHREWSBURY. Aaargh. 7 nil to the once mighty and respected Sheffield Wednesday. 1 1

Willie Henderson
Excellent as ever Sir, I really hope we tonk them as we were tonked by Sunderland, and get this year off to a cracking start. But I'm not overoptimistic, we seem to be at a bit of a nadir, injured and rudderless, like a huge whale being pursued by a pack of hungry badgers. Come on Wednesday! quinnssweetshop
Can't see us getting a thing here.. They'll hammer us from the start and well cave because the poor little angels don't like bad weather.
