Blacberrys obsession with security eventually killed it.

 

They made it far too hard for people to launch apps so people just stopped building them.

 

At the end of the day - while Blackberry were building secure business apps - the vast majority of iPhone users wanted apps that put a picture of a pint glass on the screen and you could tip it up to your mouth and make it look like you were drinking a pint of lager.
