Luke - What are you on about? We have been on a massive unbeaten run. Why would anyone not be defending him before the game.

Then you’ve posted “people still defending the Manager” 45mins into the match. Who in the last 45mins has defended him and done it in a way that it’s got you so angry with them?

are you ok?
is there a friend you can call for a nice chat?

Have a think mate, the writing is on the wall and has been since he came.

I'd say alot of our fanbase are losers too

Bragging about the best unbeaten team in england but we are 8th

I'd have took 5 wins and 5 loses from our Last 10 games because it would have got us more points than our wonderful unbeaten run did

You’re probably right. The acceptance of mediocrity in a terrible league is embarrassing

First league defeat for some time tonight - and, predictably, Owlstalk seems to go into meltdown.

DM and the team have done well recently - the unbeaten run had to end sometime.

Disappointing, but it’s not the end of the world by any means

You're obsessing over wages

You don't automatically achieve promotion just by paying your players more than anyone else

It gives you a better opportunity than anybody else.

Every single player that has been signed on a free (the vast majority of signings) or on loan in this division - Moore could have got.

It is an enormous advantage.

Clearly, managers with far smaller budgets have done far better jobs.

We've conceded an opening goal which should have been given offside; lost our only remaining senior centre-back to injury; and are trying to defend with a right-back, a left-winger and a lad from the U23s...pretty much everything that could go against us this evening has gone against us.

Agree with some of this, but let’s not revert to blaming officials for our shortcomings.  First goal might have been marginally offside but more about rank bad defending in my opinion.

Football fans can be quite funny in how predictably irate they get about almost anything less than unattainable perfection. It's like having an old Action Man with the drawstring in his back - he is only ever capable of saying the same things over and over again no matter what the circumstances might be. And yet some remain utterly bemused that they are not taken seriously despite their reactions reflecting all the contemplation and sophistication of a light switch.

Of the 92 teams in the top four divisions, I wonder how many of them see a sustained barrage of disapproval against the manager in the course of an average season? 40? 50? 60? So half or more of those clubs are all being run shambolically? Really? Even the team currently 4th in the Premier League just a few weeks ago were supposedly destined to failure due to the ineptitude of the man in charge, so where did he suddenly come by the 'secret'? My particular favourite is when students, software engineers and car mechanics tell people paid small fortunes for decades where they are going wrong by way of simple, cliched soundbites. Well get this - if all the clubs in a division do the same things, no matter how brilliant they are, one will still finish top and another bottom.

And this same routine plays out EVERY single season. The only thing that changes is the frequency and ferocity of the attacks. That in itself tells you what's really happening. Managers aren't worse than they were in the 1980s for instance. In all likelihood, they are actually far better. As a society we are becoming more selfish, insular, impatient, unforgiving, demanding and just so bloody angry all the time.
