Preston have today confirmed that striker Connor Wikcham has left the club after the expiration of his short-term contract.

North End took Wickham on trial back in August after the experienced striker was released by Crystal Palace.

After impressing in training, Wickham was given a short-term deal at North End, joining on September 13th on a deal until January 13th.

We have now hit that date and Preston have confirmed that Wickham has gone, so how did it come to this point?

Wickham managed just two appearances for Preston’s first team.

Another player with potential stealing a living without ever fulfilling any potential.

The next club he goes to need to be a pay as you play - I bet he stays for then.

Bit harsh to accuse him of stealing a living IMO.  Any club signing Wickham with his injury track record, should know exactly what they're getting.  The real shame is that when fit, he's a really good Championship/lower Premier League player.

He's not been match fit since about 2014. After leaving Sunderland he has managed 77 appearance in 8 seasons and 30 of those were 3 loans while with us.

Exactly.

It's not as if he's choosing to get injured, is it?

He'll be more frustrated then anyone with the way his career's panned out.

Not done to bad out of it though. He'll retire soon and never have to work again.

If you ask most physiotherapists most normal injuries happen becouse your not at a peak level of fitness.

So very much an overweight looking Wickham that we signed on loan the other year I'm not surprised.

It also adds weight to the post Carlos holiday camp injury crisis we had.

Wickham overweight. Bloke keeps himself in tip top condition. He’s just been very unlucky with injuries.
