adelphi1867
I would give him a new 2 year contract and then loan him out to a 2nd div club, Hartlepool?, for the rest of the season. Then he will have 2 years to break into our 1st team. He has always been behind the other member's of his age group due to his size, but nature will take care of that. malek
There are many young central midfielders that are more ready and more talented than Hunt available either on free transfers or for little money. And for the sake of his career it would be best for Hunt to leave to play first team football at bit lower level.

He was hardly playing for the pigs when they bought him He was 19 and had barely had time to establish himself. He was just starting to when he was sold. Hunt is 21 and made his debut 3 and half seasons ago under Jos.

You don't get taller at 21 and how much more filling out is he likely to do?

Admittedly there's not a lot of competition for that title but there you go How we are once again 6 months from contract end for a promising young player is beyond me. That's ways going to happen because they only ever get a year at a time. Probably ly sign for another year in the Summer. Brennan has had 4 × 1 year contracts extensions. He might get 2 years this time.

I thought Wing would be a great signing based on his performances for Toytown. He may still turn out to be important. However, I didn’t understand the signing of Byers. Would rather we’d given Hunt a go. He’d have got plenty of game time. FDB and Brennan have shown that last seasons development players can compete in Lg1.

We shouldn’t get carried away. Alex was nominated for the LFE Apprentice of the Year but as well as the playing record that takes into account education attainment, disciplinary record & other non-playing activities of note. At 21, Alex is nowhere near the ability level of Spurr, Wood,, Beevers, Palmer, for example. All who went on to have decent careers Neither is Alex at the level of the likes of Nyoni, Modest, Lavery, Boden, McAllister for whom things didn’t end up so well. It’s controversial but he’s not at Hirst or Shaws level either. However, I’d like to see Alex back in the fold. Rather him than Byers and maybe Wing. Think he could do well in Lg1.

Ever the pessimist
No chance on god’s green earth that those clubs are interested in Hunt. People saying ‘well done’ to his agent? I think his agent would have done well to link him with realistic clubs. It’s like me trying to make our lass jealous by suggesting Taylor Swift is after me, instead of the octogenarian widow next door occasionally being polite. 2

You can agree or disagree but we should have him back asap and get rid of Wing, Byers, Brown and Berahino and have some faith in our youngsters (even though Hunt is no kid anymore), FFS keep him. Tbf we did keep him? We took the extension option and then loaned him out to develop his game more.. which is what he had done and what loans are supposed to do? We can of course put an offer on the table and it will of course be his choice to stay or move on? We have offered Shaw, Urogohide, Hirst and Clare contracts and all decided to leave and further their careers. All 4 left and hit the big time instantly proving how shambolic a club we are … oh wait that hasn’t been the case as it.

dfoster
Hunt can play but he needs time and matches. I hope Wing goes back and Hunt returns for Jan so DM can assess if any improvement. If he's no further on then loan him out again ... i think he's worth persevering with. Any of youth team experts on here seen much of Rio Shipston in the U18s? I've heard good things about him, even suggested he could be overtaking the older kids in CM quite quickly ...

Apparently very talented all around central midfielder (didn't get many of those out of our academy, did we ?!). Looks like after that League winning U-18 side we again have few very highly rated youngsters (Hall, Davidson, Shipston, Cadamarteri..) and I really hope that last season's experience have thought us how to keep our most talented young players at the club. fpowl
I always looked at hunt as more like a bannan with him being more technical than physical Loaning him was absolutely the right thing to do in my opinion and he should stay out on loan until the end of the season we have plenty of cover here and rather than him making up the match day squad numbers he should be playing and getting plenty of minutes of we ca move him up a level fair enough or if he stays and keeps part of a changing room and sees the season out both will be great for his development id probably say we have a good luck at him in preseason ( presuming he stays ) if he looks like he’s going to be a fringe player which is likely weird Deli and Aderian as better younger options more likely to get more minutes we step him up a level with another loan move by this time he will have had plenty of first team football and maybe ready to replace the ever ageing bannan but I see no point in having him at the club with our current options yes he would have got minutes and yes I’d rather give him some minutes above out of form wing but he’s definitely getting more benefit and developing better where he is
