mcmigo
What a bizarre club. they have spent absolute fortunes on players, and have a rumoured huge wage bill, and are still terrible. they had Ancelotti as their manager and were still pretty hopeless. You can’t see Rafa lasting much longer, but who else goes in there ? they are like the premier league version of us, the owner must be doing his nut.
Adem Poric
I know a fair few Evertonians and they are all pretty apathetic about it. None of them wanted Benitez. They are mostly quite self-deprecating so you dont see the anger much but it's definitely building. They are in danger this year if they cant get their better players fit. Some of the money they have spent over the last few years on dross is astonishing.
Bannofan
Benitez is massively overrated in my opinion. I think there are stats to show that Steve Bruce did as well at Newcastle as Benitez , even with them in Championship. Very strange club. Can beat anyone on their day, can lose to anyone as well. beswetherick
Could get pretty toxic for Rafa if/when they get hammered by Liverpool later. Newcastle wanted him before hiring Howe, it’d be quite funny if he got sacked a few weeks after they’ve brought Howe in
fudge27
Everton since about 2012 have signed some good players, had some top drawer managers and never get any better or worse. The definition of mid table these days
FreshOwl
Imagine you’re an Everton fan whose been in a coma for six years. Imagine you woke up in 2021 and were told you’d spent £450m in that time and had Benitez, Ancelotti, Koeman as managers You’d be asking whereabouts in the champions league positions they were It’s been a shitshow and they’ve signed some sh*t, with Iwobi being near the top of that list
SiJ
If they are not careful, they'll be the next Sunderland. Everyone who goes to Everton, whether manager or player, seems to under deliver or fail outright. Edited December 1, 2021 by SiJ
Willie Henderson
But don't they have Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin out injured? I think even the mighty Owls would miss those three.

Benitez is a problem similar to Mourinho where they fall out with too many players. He’s a busted flush imo

Still - if you'd spent half a billion on players in the last several years, you'd like to think your squad could cope with an injury to the lad signed for peanuts from Dem Blades

Adem Poric
I think the Iwobi deal was £28m rising to £34m. He's barely a Championship footballer.

I'd have Richarlison at Hillsborough though, just as back up for Pato.

Adem Poric
Having spent the best part of half a billion quid they've been relying on Andros Townsend to get them something in games. If they dont get Calvert-Lewin fit soon they are going to be in a relegation scrap.

mcmigo
Some of the spending Sigurdssun who is 32 and no longer in squad , assuming to do with rumours -50m Allan - 25m Godfrey - 25m Iwobi - 30m Kean - 25m Mina - 30m Tosun 20m Klaasen -25m etc etc It goes on and on. You compare it to the grafter team Moyes had on the cheap - Jagielka, Carsley, Tim Howard, Osman, Baines, Gravesen etc - you would swap that team for the current mob in a heartbeat and it cost bugger all to put together.
