Brilliant. Goes to show, the boo boys were all over him. Get him fit and give him a bit of confidence and he’s proven to be a superb player this last 6/7 games.

100%. Was a good player at Wigan and now emphatically proving that he still is. Real leader too. So important  to us. Please stay fit.

Hes ten times better without Iorfa. I think Dom is  the weak link in our defence, he pulls players out of position with his positional sense, bails himself out or leaves the other looking silly.

He was freakily good tonight. What was he on in that first half?

He has come from nowhere to become leader, warrior, beast of a player.

And his desire to get on the ball, and his confidence and authority once he’s got it is rediculous .

He always had it. He had a horrible leg break and it takes time to get back to the level you’re capable of. Championship defender playing in League One.

Old Brucey was a big fan and tried to sign him for Villa before the leg break.

Was fantastic tonight

When Dunkley is playing like this you forget about Iorfa. That is the biggest praise you can give Dunkley.

When was the last time a player completely turned around his SWFC career? Lewis Buxton probably.

Agreed. Iorfa is a good pkayer no doubt but IMO Dunkley is the genuine commanding  CB that we've needed for a good while.

When Iorfa is fit Dunks should be the right sided CB in a four or central in a three. He is our best CB by a margin and should be played in his best position. Iorfa is probably better at RB than central IMO.

Am sure Iorfa has quite openly stated a few times he doesn’t want to play RB

There’ll be a huge selection issue for DM after Xmas if he gets Iorfa , Dunkley and Sam all fit at same time

You would probably think Hutchinson would miss out, but that’s a big call

Quite possibly. He's not as good a CB as Dunkley though despite his eye catching speed and strength. Shuffling Dunkley out of position to accommodate Iorfa as has happened in the past would be a mistake IMO.

Neither Dunkley or Iorfa are going to win awards for their ability to play the ball out from the back.

Physically, Iorfa is an absolute beast and those physical attributes mean he has often been able to get himself out of sticky situations. That is a good thing, as he is prone to lapses in judgement.

Dunkley is a unit himself, but I think he's a better defender than Iorfa in the traditional no nonsense way. He's also a leader and a real character.

As things stand, Dunkley is one of the first names on the team sheet and rightfully so.

He wasn’t though.

Agree. He turned in some decent performances last season. His first 5 games he was voted one of our better players in each. Unfortunately he finished with a couple of stinkers against Birmingham and Derby, and being recalled for the shítshow at Derby will always be the strongest memory.

These are his Owlstalk Ratings from the 2020-21 season with the team average in brackets:

Chey Dunkley - 2021 Season, 10 starts, 2 sub appearances

vs Barnsley (h) = 5.83 (5.26)

vs Forest (a) = 5.83 (4.58) - was voted MoM

vs Coventry (h) = 7.40 (6.82)

vs Blackburn (a) = 7.00 (6.43)

vs Middlesbrough (h) = 8.11 (7.18)

vs Bournemouth (a) = 6.67 (6.95) - on as sub in 79th minute

vs Millwall (a) = 5.05 (5.58)

vs Wycombe (h) = 7.00 (7.25)

vs Stoke (a) = 6.44 (5.81)

vs Birmingham (h) = 4.56 (5.11)

vs Luton (a) = No rating - on as sub in 83rd minute

vs Derby (a) = 5.00 (5.89) - assist & penalty conceded
