WEDNESDAY -V- GILLINGHAM - OMDT

Recommended Posts

The biggest ,obvious issue overall , is again Darren Moore’s insistence on playing this back 3

There’s not a chance this system gets you promoted, he does a lot of talking about not been stuck to a 3 and he won’t be pinned down on it , but all I ever see is him putting square pegs into round holes to persist with his back 3 and wing backs

That, for me , is the root cause

Started well, tried to be positive and play on the front foot for most of the half, but that goal knocked the stuffing out of us.

Our makeshift defence always looks susceptible to set pieces and has been our undoing again.

Gregory is a huge miss, not really threatened with any confidence or conviction up front.

Not much on the bench to affect matters up front, more of a mentality challenge now. A goal in the first 20.minutes and it's game on,. otherwise this game will just fizzle out.

Both teams have injuries,.it's 11v11 at the end of the day,. to see who wants it more.

Lacked quality in their box. Other than that and one moment of poor marking we’ve been decent.

Optimistic we’ll turn this round.

Dele and Wing have been poor. Dennis should replace one.

Theo is a real threat. Very impressed.

Kamberi has been poor, but with only Berahino to replace him I hope he stays on.

We're losing and being outplayed..we just didnt concede, so looked good. We've been awful since.

Our back 5 when defending includes a right winger, a right back, a centre back, a left winger, a left winger.

Steve Evans saw that and laughed his rosey cheeks off. His two lumps up front have enjoyed that.

I'm not a fan of three at the back at all, but playing Devil's advocate, do we think he's resorted to that because (rightly or wrongly) he only sees us having the one fit CB to play in Dunkley, and playing Palmer alongside him in a four wouldn't offer enough protection?

He’s MoM so far by light years.

Hes turning them inside out and has put some really dangerous balls in.

Dangerous balls in ?? Where ?    I have not questioned his technical ability , but his overall game ?  Lot to learn

Kamberi is good for his pressing and his workrate but Gillingham aren't even trying to play out from the back, they're happy to just sit in and try and get us on the counter. Similarly for Wing, he's good enough defensively at breaking up moves but offers almost nothing going forward.

I'd like to see Kamberi & Wing --> Berainho & Adeniran at half time personally, I reckon that could give us that extra bit of creativity going forward..

Yep, it’s a formation which requires specialist players to play wing back and we don’t have them. Play 4 at the back with two proper centre halves and let the full backs support the wide players. We’re expecting two out and out wingers to perform the wing back role and it’s clearly not their game. Total waste of the talent we have in the squad
