Wednesday -V- Sunderland - - - OMDT

Absolutely fantastic performance.

Hard working... pressing all the time and every individual battle won.

And some lovely approach work and sharp finishing.

But the energy in the press is what I'll remember about this win... and BB running his blood to water covering all across the line but still showing quality when he managed to get up the pitch.

In two and a half hours' time, this team selection will either seem like the product of a truly gifted tactical mastermind, or it will confirm that Moore needs to go.

I know where my money's going.

Truly gifted tactical mastermind it is, then.

It was never in doubt.

This has to be the level now.

It simply cannot drop again, I don’t care who we’re playing, that performance was good enough to beat anyone in this league comfortably and tonight has to serve as the moment when we set the base of what is expected.

The worries about our shape, players being out of position etc. were proved as insignificant as soon as a proper level of commitment and organisation was shown by all eleven players.

That was an excellent win tonight. Now it can either be a turning point, or a brief happy memory that will fade very quickly. Not so much up to Darren as up to the players now.
