Don't want to sound bad but we are holding our country back keep thinking about the 2nd world war

No offence mate, I don’t wanna upset anyone but comments like this are unacceptable and out of order, millions of men and women died fighting for our past, present and future. You don’t realise how lucky we are to have people like that fighting for us and our families

Don’t really know what you mean by that ? . You can’t protect your future if you don’t learn about your history and learn from the mistakes . This is why we must teach our children about past conflicts and atrocities.

Yes, it is not just about remembering the people that fought and died and the horrors. It is just as, if not more important, to understand how these wars and particularly the holocaust/genocides came about. Complacency and the "it could never happen here" attitude are dangerous.

I hope you mean we are holding ourselves back by harking back to it as a golden age. We need to keep telling the story of its horror and the conditions in Germany which allowed nationalism  to carry Hitler to power and enable the Nazi's to carry out the holocaust. It is not about how we pat ourselves on the back for defeating Germany. It is about preventing it recurring and respecting those that fought to end it.
