You can’t protect your future if you don’t learn about your history and learn from the mistakes . Yes, it is not just about remembering the people that fought and died and the horrors. It is just as, if not more important, to understand how these wars and particularly the holocaust/genocides came about. We need to keep telling the story of its horror and the conditions in Germany which allowed nationalism to carry Hitler to power and enable the Nazi's to carry out the holocaust. It is not about how we pat ourselves on the back for defeating Germany. It is about preventing it recurring and respecting those that fought to end it.
