First match this season due to living away.
Impressed with Johnson , comfortable on the ball , good footballer , nice left foot , adds balance.

Bannan a class apart.

Dele and Adeniran were good in spells.

Corbeanu caught the eye when he came on. At last a player who could take people on , oozed confidence and looks a real player. Can someone tell me why he isn’t starting games.

Biggest minus today was the front two. Appalling.

Nothing was sticking so the ball came immediately back at Wednesday putting us under pressure. Gregory was leaning back against their centre half almost falling backwards , therefore stopping any chance he had of holding the ball up. His ball control was laughable.
Berahino looked lost, no drive , enthusiasm or effort. Couldn’t control the ball , basic stuff really.

All in all not a bad performance, there’s a team in there somewhere , just not sure DM knows what he’s doing and just making it up as he goes along? Seems more concerned about the opposition than having confidence in his own team and tactics which I think ultimately will be his undoing.

Yep, Moore should have gone out a spent big…bring in some real talent

When you need a new car, do you buy one decent one for £6k, or 6 for £1k and leave five parked up?

That’s what we did in the Summer.

Peacock-Farrell - 6 - Couple of smart stops. Couple of errors he got away with.

Palmer - 5 - Utterly abysmal in the 1st half. Cowardly & careless in possession. Caught out of position numerous times, and his errors nearly cost us two goals.

Iorfa - 5 - Defensively looked ill at ease in the 1st half... no surprise, having Palmer one side of him and a left winger the other. Caught in possession which lead to a good chance. 2nd half, improved..couple of good drives out of defence. Lost his man for the goal though.

Johnson - 6 - He did alright...and to be fair, that's a huge compliment given he's not, and never will be, a centre half. Hesitant early on, which is understandable, but grew into the game, and offered a threat going forward in the 2nd half.

Hunt - 6 - Probably our best player in the 1st half...constantly available and gave us the much needed width we were crying out for. Lacked a bit of quality, but can't fault his effort or constant running up and down the flank.

Brown - 5 - Another disappointing display. Offered absolutely nothing in the 1st half. Slightly better in the 2nd. But seemed to be too deep, too often. It left us with limited options when attacking down the left flank.

Bannan - 7 - He was one of the few players looking to make things happen...as he always is. Couple of good deliveries into the box, which should've been met by a Wednesday player.

Dele-Bashiru - 7 - Man of the Match - Just edges it over his two midfield colleagues, because I felt, like Bannan, he constantly tried to do the brave play, and looked to make things happen. There's a fantastic footballer in there, and I just hope Moore allows him the opportunity to realise that potential. He's raw, he'll fall over the ball occasionally, give the odd ball away...but he's learning, and he's got incredible strength, pace and power for a midfielder. Did brilliantly for the goal.

Adeniran - 7 - Anonymous in the 1st half. Upped it considerably in the 2nd, got a good goal, and saw a lot of the ball and looked to drive forward. No surprise Bannan dictated things for a longer period of time in the 2nd half, when FDB and Adeniran began to drive forward, to open up the space for him. Got to question whether he really needed to stay down, and receive treatment prior to Lincoln's corner, which led to the goal. Left us numerically inferior for the set piece, and it cost us.

Berahino - 5 - Don't know what he offers us. Wants too long on the ball...taking too many touches, and not releasing the ball quick enough.

Gregory - 6 - Not his best game, but he's a threat, and always does the basics very well. Baffled as to why he was substituted.

Paterson - 5 - Offered very little when he came on. He's not a target man, and we lost a lot of our shape when he came on. Needs to play alongside a target man if he's playing up top.

Corbeanu - 6 - Didn't see much of the ball, but on the few occasions he did, looked a threat. Offered more of a threat in 10 minutes, than Berahino did in 80.

Overall...

Another game where the same issues are apparent, and the manager seems to be totally oblivious to it.

The selection is utterly baffling. How, after 14 games, have we resorted to playing a player who was brought in as a left winger, as a centre half (a position he's never played before), when we've got a natural centre half, whos done well in the last couple of games, sat on the bench? Not a single fan would've selected that team...how has our manager come to that decision? He's losing the plot...desperate hoping for something to drop. Luhukay was lambasted for playing without strikers away at Millwall...Moore's selection yesterday was even more baffling than that. Although, I do think the midfield trio has potential to be very effective going forward. Adeniran and FDB offer a dynamism and energy that excels both defensively and offensively, and that frees Bannan up to do his thing...it's the rest of the side that needs fixing.

But, selection aside, it was yet another performance where we were slow, sluggish, static...unimpressive. It's another team, assembled on a fraction of our budget, that have looked more well-drilled and effective than ourselves. The idea that Moore keeps talking about the players gelling been an issue, is nonsensical. Team cohesion doesn't just happen, doesn't just click...it's a process, through which there's a trend...there'll be up and downs...but the trend should see improvement. Well we aren't seeing any...in fact, we're regressing. Our performances in the first four or five games, although not great, we're much better than the dross been served up currently.

It seems the only optimism we have about been successful this season, is blind faith.

my car is 36 years old…but back onto players…we weren’t allowed to buy any…so we have this team which doesn’t match our expectations…we need to change the expectations if we can’t change the players…

We’re a mid table team

Adeniran looked a clear choice for me. He was always involved and contributed more than anybody on the pitch in terms of effort and ability. 8

Bashiru the most entertaining player on the pitch, now showing more in games, but still improving. I reckon Corbeanu should have been on much earlier, but he still managed to spice the game up a bit, despite their disappointingly easy equaliser. Farrel made some good saves and was let down badly by the defence for the equaliser. Sadly Dunkly's bad distribution may have got him dropped, but purely in hindsight, I think he would have won the header that they scored from - 7

Bannan, Brown, Palmer, Iorfa, Hunt, Gregory and Berahino & Johnson had slightly above average performances, but did not excel. - 6

Amazed to see that Paterson and Shodipo still get chosen as impact subs when showing so little quality. I would rather see Adeniron, or Sow given a chance than either of these two. Neither have been given the same opportunities to prove themselves. - 5

Great Review

I don't always agree with your scored but your reviews are a great read and always get me thinking.

Utilising my new arbitrary stat, positive touches per minute, here goes.

Peacock-Farrell: 6 NA

Palmer: 6 - .44

Iorfa: 5 - .42

Johnson: 7 - .63

Hunt: 5 - .4

Brown: 5 - .36

Adeniran: 6 - .49

Bannan: 8 - .66

Dele-Bashiru: 5 - .43

Berahino: 3 - .22

Gregory: 3 - .16

Paterson: 4 - .28

Corbeanu: 7 - .56

Shodipo: 3 - 0

(Total touches - loss of possession) / minutes played.

So any action which didn't lose possession.

Took the average of .39.     Gave .34 - .44 a 5, then up or down from there.

This is not for adding to the stats, just to see how it matches up.

Palmer 6

Iorfa 6

Johnson 6

Hunt 6

Brown 2 simply awful in this role.
Fizz MoM 8 huge potential with his powerful running

Bannan 6.5

Adeniran 7 but below his best.

Berahino 5 good first half but vanished second

Gregory 1 utterly woeful. Zero control

Theo 7.7 great showing

Shodipo 6

Paterson 5

Theo 7.7. Really!!

Two things.

One.

Do you really think he was the second best player we had on the pitch that match and only slightly worse than who you thought was the best one.

Two.

Why the .7. where is that from. I can understand the 7.5 mark but Why the .7
