Barnsley fans make me laugh. Have a good season and think they’re the business.

The same cycle always happens with them. Have a good season, manager and best players leave. Following season struggle and get relegated.

This.

They've usually got one season to get it right in the Championship, and by right, I'm talking about getting bloody promoted.

If they don't do that (which they highly unlikely to do so), every single person who is half decent will f*ck off and go to a bigger club, end of story.

Remember a few years back when they came up and they had the likes of Winnall, Hourihane and others? Half decent side and they sold them all off in January.

They are a stepping stone club. Great place to go if you are trying to make the step up from the lower leagues or perhaps you are not deemed quite good enough at a club in the Prem.

People gloating about a club who have spent 10% of our recent few years investment but are still a division above us is bizarre.

Absolutely.

Worth remembering the moneyball model doesn't actually depend on even winning anything. Promotion to the Premier League is obviously the aim as it is for everybody else, but their model isn't a success or failure based on that alone.

The way Barnsley are run is about maximising the return on what they bring in. I'm not sure getting relegated this year even changes that. I wouldn't be in a rush to stick too much money on us being back in the Championship before them.

Sheffield United fans still used to give us stick on certain matters when they were in the midst of spending 6 straight seasons in League One, it's hardly gloating, just pointing out a few truths that all is not as rosy as some made out.

As has been said, Barnsley only ever seem to be able to sustain one season of a decent campaign at that level before returning to a relegation battle and despite what some of their fans were saying last season, their sustainable approach to building a brighter future year on year doesn't appear as stable as it was made out to be.

They have just closed a 3rd of their home stadium capacity during the season with their own council expressing surprise and disappointment at this move and some of their fans are suggesting it is a move by the club owners to purchase the ground on the cheap from the majority owners who are long-standing members of the club.

The Cryne family have also undertaken legal action into unpaid installments of the purchase of the club by the new shareholders.
