Just Got Back & Player Ratings - Massive Positives!

Back to the M6 Toll Services.  A1 shut so my return to Bolton is via the M6. 
 

8 hours of driving to see that…

 

Terrible first half.  Wing was awful and Johnson was worse. 
 

Palmer, Bannan and Fizz were decent tho. 
 

Here’s why a dreary draw away at Cambridge is a massive positive:

 

Despite playing poorly we didn’t give Cambridge many chances and we created tons of clear cut chances.  

- Fizz dribble and hit post 

- Wing 1 on 1

- Fizz goal 

- Adeniran header with keeper making a worldie save 

- Three Shodipo chances 

- Wing volley in the box 

- Berahino with 2 good chances 

- 2 missed headers

 

We played poorly but didn’t come under threat and created more than enough to win. We just need to put the chances away! 
 

Ratings:

BPF - 6  Did well against the wind.  Corners were shots on target in the first half. 
 

Palmer - 8  Very good game.  Calm, read the game well and drove forward. 
 

Iorfa 5 - Lost almost all his headers.  
 

Dunkley 5 - Lost the physical battle and can’t pass.  Good block in the 1st half. 
 

Johnson 3 - One good cross.  One good shot.  Terrible defensively and seemed to refuse to get forward when needed at times.  Terrible passing.  Looked injured or tired. 

 

Hunt 7 - His shift to right wing back worked well and he was our focus for 30 mins.  Slow to get crossed in but had some good moments.  
 

Bannan 7 - Great touches. High energy.  Led from the front.  Got us out of trouble with his neat passing.  
 

Fizz 8 - Good runs.  Great dribble and hit the post.  Top finish.  A talent. 
 

Wing 4 - Awful game.  Tried to make passes and take shots but they were all bad.  No confidence with his 1 on 1. 
 

Paterson 6 - Worked hard for little reward. 

 

Gregory 7 - worked hard.  Created a couple of chances.  Chased well. 
 

Subs:

Adeniran 7 - Defent when he came on.  Nearly won it for us with a header.  
 

Berahino 8 - Amazing assist.  Good movement.  A threat. 
 

Shodipo 7 - Good display.  Got at them but couldn’t find a finish when needed. 
 

 

Moore 6 - Poor first half tactics to allow Cambridge to pen us in with the wind.  Good subs and tactical changes.

They used the wind against us and took some pot shots from far out.   Nothing clear cut.

Bez - you mentioned your journey back to Bolton - I applaud you mate, Tuesday night match in Cambridge and then the drive back especially when the result goes against us or like at present when the team are not playing well - at least we got a point from last nights game but still a long way back to reflect on the highs and lows.

I live in Bolton and hate the drive back listening to ‘praise and grumble’ - lately just too many grumbles after crap performances and then we have to endure Moore post match excuses.

Its  times like this I wish I still lived in Aston !
