As a ball playing midfielder he only found a team mate with 62% of his passes. Bannan and FDB were at over 90%. Wing did play better in terms of getting into the box but giving it to the opposition that often when playing central midfield is not good.

FDB only attempted 21 passes. Mostly short, in our half.

Most of Wing's passes were deep in their half where the percentages are lower, also 17% of those missed passes were long balls where we lost out.

You are making it up as you go along. Most of his passes were deep in their half, then you refer to a load of missed long balls - where was he playing long balls to from deep in their half?

He’s always been at that sort of level. He tries to move the ball quickly ( admittedly he rushes too much sometimes) .

Passing it around our back line though would increase his percentage somewhat.

That miss though was awful.

Would have killed the game stone dead.

Yes it was a bad one, not like any of our other midfielders are great finishers though is it?

Well, he has these things called legs. When he utilises them he can go from one side of the pitch to the other.

He played as a DM, but was still involved in nearly every attack, it's movement and work rate.

It's not just passing it around the back line is it. Bannan and FDB were above 90%, they both had plenty of passes in Wimbledon's half, including being involved in the opening goal.

He gave the ball away more than anyone else.

If his long passes were continually going astray, why keep playing them?

Wing only had 13 passes more and played 25 minutes more than FDB.

We all know Bannan plays for the high percentage with lots of little give and goes in our own half.

He plays these passes with the primary purpose of getting his pass percentage stats up?

Yes and often slows play down in doing so.
Our best performance/ result of the season was away at Wigan. We moved the ball forward quickly and the midfield worked their socks off and didn’t get overrun.

Our best performance of the season was not at Wigan. The first half was an abysmal game of football all round. We played well for half an hour start of the second half then hung on last 15 minutes.

We were better for longer spells against Fleetwood and Wimbledon and even in defeat at Morecambe.

Bannan playing passes solely for the purpose of his passing stats though! Some people are utterly bizarre in their opinions, you then get as many people saying he plays too many 'Hollywood' balls - or are the short passes specifically played to nullify the stats of the misplaced Hollywood passes!?

He plays the ball around our back line with little one twos. This allows the opposition to get back and get their shape. Bannan then plays the Hollywood ball or gives it back to the keeper to hoof up.
Wigan was undeniably our best performance and result of the season.

Best result yes, best performance?
Go and read the reviews, look at the comments of anyone who witnessed the first half.

Your comments on Bannan are laughable.

He also had as many shots as Gregory and as many clearances as Iorfa.

Busy boy is that Wing.

Clearing the ball after he gave it back to the opposition!

Good job Gregory could finish his chances.
